Abstract: Optimal nutrition is essential for high-school athletes. Coaches could influence dietary habits of athletes since they are important figures in the athletes' lives. This research studies factors that might influence high-school coaches' nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and perceived roles and practices regarding nutrition for themselves and the athletes they coach. A comprehensive survey was e-mailed to 3200 high-school coaches on the MIAA mailing list; 285 surveys were returned Data from 218 coaches were included in the analysis: 135 males and 83 females representing 19 different sports participated in the study. The average knowledge score of the participants was 65% with the lowest scores in the subcategories: recovery, weight-gain, and supplements.
