Book Description
Warning: once you start reading this book, you won't stop until you are finished. This book is a true story or stories about my life. I explain in detail why and when I was taken away from my family by social services and put in an orphanage and then placed in two different foster homes, where I was abused and terrified, and I had a relationship with a twentyaEUR"yearaEUR"old woman when I was seven and a half years old. I also talk about very crazy experiences I had playing drums professionally on stage. The experiences are very dramatic, humorous, and sexy. Drums were and still are a very big part of my life. I would play with my complete heart and selfaEUR"expression when I performed. Music was a big part of my life that gave me purpose when I was at one of my lowest points in my life. I have also suffered with Crohn's disease most of my life. I have been in and out of the hospital as a result of this disease since I was a baby. The disease became so severe I had to quit my job and I became homeless, and I lived in the woods for two long years suffering from this disease. I also share some of my terrifying experiences from heavy drinking of alcohol and some of my deadly situations I put myself in from heavy addiction to drugs. It is absolutely amazing and a true miracle that I am still alive and able to write this book about my experiences. I experienced the presence of God while I was writing this book in such a profound way. I cannot even try to explain how powerful this experience was. You have to read this book to understand this absolute wonderful experience I had.

Book Description
Tyler Dempsey is an award winning poet. His brother is in prison. This collection of poems was "curated " from the letters Tyler received. The poems are sparse, yet harshly lush; full of observations, regret, love and hope. Even a bit of humor. Includes a recipe for Not Pizza. Cover image by internationally recognized Joseph Rushmore. "Hard-edged yet restless and heartfe -Cyril Wong, author of Infinity Diary From the publisher Tyler tweeted to the world that he was looking for a publisher. I replied. Within the shortest time possible, we had the first version of Newspaper Drumsticks on Amazon. This was during the early days of Covid. The reviews were many, thoughtful and positive. Tyler's years of work gave us a playful-yet sobering- look at what it truly means to be in "lockdown". Now, as masks are no longer required, we are launching a proper version of Newspaper Drumsticks; one that is less of a fragile signal flare, and more of a well-made torch. Newspaper Drumsticks is a classic, as profoundly simple (and American) as Blades of Grass. Tyler has transformed his brother's observations about life in a constant vicious circle of bureaucracy into Zen-like poems, each as meaningful and brief as ripples in a pond. Book Description
Naamiwan’s Drum follows the story of a famous Ojibwe medicine man, his gifted grandson, and remarkable water drum. This drum, and forty other artefacts, were given away by a Canadian museum to an American Anishinaabe group that had no family or community connections to the collection. Many years passed before the drum was returned to the family and only about half of the artefacts were ever returned to the museum. Maureen Matthews takes us through this astonishing set of events from multiple perspectives, exploring community and museum viewpoints, visiting the ceremonial group leader in Wisconsin, and finally looking back from the point of view of the drum. The book contains a powerful Anishinaabe interpretive perspective on repatriation and on anthropology itself. Containing fourteen beautiful colour illustrations, Naamiwan’s Drum is a compelling account of repatriation as well as a cautionary tale for museum professionals.

Book Description
A hilarious inside look at the real business of popular music by the drummer of Semisonic that does for rock and roll what Jim Bouton's Ball Four did for baseball. After years of working day jobs and making music in his basement, Jacob Slichter wondered if his dreams of rock stardom were a vain illusion. Then he was recruited by two of his successful musician friends to form a band that became Semisonic. Who could forget the smash single “Closing Time,” a runaway hit in 1998 that thrust Jake and his bandmates into the international spotlight and helped them sell over two million albums worldwide? But along the road to fame and success came bewilderment and personal chaos: How will we ever get a record deal? Which record company is the best? The worst? Do I really have to wear these ridiculous boots? Why isn’t radio playing our song? What if I have a panic attack right here on stage? What should I write on this fan’s CD? Am I famous? Why isn’t the video director getting more shots of me? Did I say the wrong thing during that interview? Help! So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star is a telling and witty look at what happens just before and during one's time in the spotlight. Jake takes readers on a step-by-step journey of his evolution from fledgling drummer to globetrotting performer and proves to be the perfect guide—feisty and humbled—to the inner workings of the music industry and instant celebrity. So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star speaks to all of us who dream again and again of rock superstardom and shows how one kid can go from picking up a pair of drumsticks to picking up a platinum record.
