I give thanks to all who helped by pointing out these things. In addition, I have produced the forthcoming Disciples Literal New Testament (tentative title), which is a simplified version of this book, about one third its size. It is the same translation found in this volume, but now presented in paragraph format (no outline), with interpretive section headings and a few notes. Moving the translation to paragraph format required changes to the punctuation, and these are now incorporated into this volume as well. Some improvements to the outline structure of The New Testament TransLine were also made as an outcome of viewing the text in paragraphs. May God bless you as you study His Word, and may God use these two works according to His good pleasure. In contradiction to the tenor and direction of our current world, the Word of God will stand forever as objective truth corresponding to true reality from God's point of view. My goal in this translation has been to bring some fresh turns of phrase to the Gospels, histories, letters, and revelatory texts already familiar to English readers and listeners, not least because they are the source of sayings and stories embedded in our language by virtue of the long dominance of the King James Version of the Bible. Although the Hebrew and Greek materials used for that version had their flaws, the quality of the English can hardly be improved upon. Some later translations relying on better materials have improved the accuracy of the text, but rarely the rhythm and force of the style. My aim is therefore not to supplant other translations so much as to shed light on obscure passages; capture aspects of the man Jesus' personality as presented distinctively in the Gospels; convey in relatively plain language Christian doctrine and experience as related in Acts and the Epistles; and reflect the atemporal nature of the Book of Revelation. I have generally aimed for fluid, contemporary language--avoiding the overly literal, freely adopting the colloquial, and taking grammatical license where the writer employed imagery not subject to standard linguistic limitations. My goal is a user-friendly translation at once enjoyable, novelistic, and at times poetic.

Robert Young's famous translation of the New Testament Gospels, in which each passage is written to reflect its exact and literal meaning, is presented here in this attractive edition. For his translation of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Robert Young used two resources: The Textus Receptus (TR) are manuscripts in Greek whose origins date to antiquity. Collated and published by the Renaissance theologian Erasmus, these texts were used in translations by Christian luminaries such as William Tyndale, Robert Estienne and the scholars who composed the celebrated King James Bible. Prior to their arrangement by Erasmus, the Greek texts had been faithfully copied by monk scribes through the generations. Majority Text (MT) - or the Byzantine text - are the commonest form of text used for describing the character of the New Testament. This textual criticism was cross-referenced by Young, that he could present his own work in the most consistently literal manner possible. Many of the analyses underpin the Greek Orthodox translations of the Gospels and New Testament, and date to the time of the Byzantine Empire. The four books of the Gospels are translated such as to reflect the meaning behind the original words. Many Greek and Hebrew terms which are oblique or mystifying are rendered in English, making Young's work an excellent supplement to Bible study. Given the structure of the languages Young studied, the sentences are not arranged as we would expect of English - however all make sense, and the narrative flow is uninterrupted. This premium edition of Young's translation has every single verse of the Gospels highlighted in bold, facilitating quick and easy referencing.
