For the first time, this monograph provides selected letters and fragments written by Avitus, with German translation and annotation, which indicate problems of church organization and refer to discourses on religion and theological discussions - in particular on the Holy Spirit (filioque) - in order to clarify more exactly the meaning of "Arian" at that time.
