Book Description
This book is a collection of my poems, hymn texts, and stories of answered, fervent prayer-not only my prayers, but also prayers shared by friends and acquaintances of faith and trust in a God who hears and responds to the concerns of our hearts. My poems and hymn texts are prayers because they arise out of my time in communion with God, often when I am the most broken. They express deep grief and questioning as well as great joy. For me, natural beauty continues to draw me into a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit in my journey to wholeness. Wholeness, I believe, is the desired state of being in which we experience the joy of Heaven on Earth-moments in which we are in complete harmony with God, ourselves, and the entire creation to experience what I call Paradise Within, symbolized for me by the Emerald Leaf. Sandy Smyth M.A.R., Theological Studies, Yale Divinity School; M.A.R.S., Religious Studies, Sacred Heart University; B.A., Art, Elmira College.

Book Description
"For years Jack Cole labored dutifully as a cartoonist, comic book illustrator, and Playboy's premier artist. He was, on the outside, a mild-mannered and easygoing guy. One look at his most famous creation--the manic, surreal Plastic Man--and there is no question that much more lurked in the mind of this tragic artist than anyone suspected. Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and cartoonist Art Spiegelman and renowned graphic designer Chip Kidd pay homage to Plastic Man and his creator, Jack Cole."--Jacket.

Harmony and Discord in Africa
Author: Mark Huleatt-James
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 0857727184
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 224
Book Description
In 1949, newlyweds Tom and Angela Huleatt-James left war-torn Europe for a new life in Africa. Fleeing the grey skies of post-war Britain, they were attracted to the idea of farming in Southern Rhodesia and determined to work there for a better future. In this book, their son Mark tells the story of their adventures in Africa and his childhood and education in Southern Rhodesia. This was the time when European hegemony in the area was at its zenith. The difficult years of the Great Depression and World War II were over and an agricultural and commodities boom was under way. Mark Huleatt-James details his memories of being a young child in this period - from a love of wildlife to the social life enjoyed by Europeans at the time.

Book Description
In the wake of the cataclysmic loss of the heaven of the First Time, the kingdoms of this world descended into an unrelenting dark age. Driven to return to the paradise that once was, human civilizations rose and fell, their sovereignty always short lived, and forever challenged by conflicting visions of how to restore heaven on earth. In the time of the great transgression, a path for man to return to the way of life was established in the Na Akhu-El sages, the shining ones of the First Time. In these the seed of light of the Golden Age was sown, to teach the way of the Four Forces, of the cycles of creation, and how to harmonize in them. And though the way was offered, and there were those who awakened to divine identity in the new heaven of this world, always the spirits of fear, greed, and shame overwhelmed the revelation, obscured the way, and wrought destruction. At the Great Pyramid, an epiphany in the Kings Chamber compels Hugues Caron to seek out and learn of the Na Akhu-el sages, the way of divine identity and mastery of the lost Hallows. In his quest to understand the mystery of the stone of sovereignty, Caron learns that a third and final opportunity for the spiritual regeneration of the human race, and return to the Golden Age, is in the offing. Again, it is for the Na Akhu-El sages to prepare the way, but even as this millennial old contest comes to climax, subversive forces of another ancient order are at work. Should these prevail an end will be made to the fallen state, not in restoration to a Golden Age, but in the final destruction of the human race.
