Book Description
Laureen Fortune, still foxy at forty, visits the Arecibo Observatory as guest of former lover Kelly Collins, an astronomer from the University of Chicago. The Observatory's spectacular radio/radar telescope, comprising a twenty-acre reflecting dish of exquisitely shaped aluminum sheeting, a 600-ton cat's cradle of steel girders suspended fifty stories above to hold its radio feeds, and cutting-edge radio and computing equipment, has drawn a number of other scientific investigators and hangers-on to its site in north-west Puerto Rico. Laureen knows several of these as long-ago friends and/or lovers, brought together by the Observatory's unique attractions. Laureen inhales the tortured history and mixed-up culture of the Isle of Enchantment until the idyll is broken one day by the discovery at dawn of a body that has fallen from the suspended structure, pierced the dish, and been disemboweled in the process. Finding herself and Kelly quite reasonably under suspicion of murder, she converts from pseudo-scientist to amateur crime investigator and, by her naturally contrarian processes of thought, identifies the true culprit and obtains a confession. She chooses not to reveal her solution to the investigating authorities, which, for their own reasons, would prefer not to be told.

Book Description
When magazine journalist, Jonathan Tame arrives on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico; after an alleged, devastating hurricane has struck the Island; it doesnt take long for the nearly burned-out writer to re-awaken his investigative training. There is a ton of money being poured into emergency coffers, but only a small portion has been allocated for repairs. Following the money trail, he discovers that a powerful entity is attempting to control the U.S. government, and other world leaders. The cash flow seems to be related to some secret project that is intended to disarm all of them. And further; that ancient archaeological artifacts, discovered years before, and said to have immeasurable power, may be the core reason behind the whole thing. In his pursuit of the truth, he finds that he is not alone; other investigators are moving in the same direction -- it's when their paths intersect that all of hell is stirred up.

Book Description
Three university students are on their way to place explosives in an important power plant, in an act of terrorism meant to draw attention to their cause, independence for Puerto Rico. The police, forewarned, are waiting for them at the plant, ready to capture them when they arrive, before they can carry out their plan. Once in custody, the students expect to be transported to police headquarters to be questioned, and, in time, to be charged and tried in court. Instead, they are killed on the spot, each shot once in the head, in what appears to be an act of premeditated murder. A few hours later, the governor, the police superintendent, and other high ranking government officials, hold a press conference to announce that a terrorist plot has been foiled by a special police anti-terrorism unit. The superintendent releases few details, but explains that the terrorists were killed when they confronted the agents and attempted to avoid arrest. The official account soon starts to unravel when the press and others start asking questions, including the father of one of the students killed, who is determined to search for the truth and find out who killed his son and the other two students, and why.
