Book Description
Reducing energy consumption is a common research topic in the United States because of its importance in environmental, health, and industrial fields. In this project, we aim to reduce global energy consumption for the Greater Boston Area by encouraging users to make more energy-efficient travel plans. We believe that if users can be provided with energy-efficient routes, alongside differing mode options and departure time, and provided the proper incentive in the form of rewards, they will be willing to modify their plans in order to obtain them. Therefore, we have created an interface on Android where users can plans trips, view past trips, and earn rewards.

Book Description
Bound to play an ever increasing role in the driver-vehicle relationship, connectivity is becoming a basic consumer requirement when it comes to choosing a vehicle. Moving from the computer into the car, the ability to stay in touch, informed and entertained has reached yet a higher level of technology ubiquity. Featuring 20 SAE technical papers published in 2010 and 2011, Connectivity and the Mobility Industry addresses important aspects of one of the most cutting-edge topics in the industry today. Edited by Dr. Andrew Brown, Jr. 2010 SAE International President and Chief Technologist for Delphi Corporation, this book also includes three original articles on the subject, written by various experts: • What to Expect Beyond 2015 - Fourth Generation Wireless and the Vehicle • The Evolution of the Driving Experience and Associated Technologies • Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicle Converged with Communication Technology Part of the new paradigm of "green, safe and connected," this title is of special interest to those looking for an integrated view of how the driving experience will develop within these boundaries, and what emerging technologies are likely to be successful in the upcoming years. This book is the third in the trilogy from SAE on "Safe, Green and Connected" vehicles in the mobility industry edited by Dr. Andrew Brown, Jr. The other two books in this trilogy are: Green Technologies and the Mobility Industry Active Safety and the Mobility Industry Buy a Combination of Books and Save!> This trilogy can be purchased in a combination of two books as follows: Green Technologies and Active Safety in the Mobility Industry Green Technologies and Connectivity in the Mobility Industry Active Safety and Connectivity in the Mobility Industry Buy the Entire 3 Book Set and Save the Most! Book Description
The electrification of shared fleets offers numerous benefits, including the reduction of local emissions of pollutants, which leads to ecological improvements such as the improvement of air quality. Electric Vehicles in Shared Fleets considers a holistic concept for a socio-technical system with a focus on three core areas: integrated mobility solutions, business models for economic viability, and information systems that support decision-making for the successful implementation and operation of electric vehicles in shared fleets. In this book, we examine different aspects within these areas including multimodal mobility, grid integration of electric vehicles, shared autonomous electric vehicle services, relocation strategies in shared fleets, and the challenge of battery life of electric vehicles. Insights into the future of transport are provided, which is predicted to be shared, autonomous, and electric. This will require the expansion of the charging infrastructure to provide adequate premises for the electrification of transportation and to create market demand.

Book Description
Although multihomed communication is a rapidly emerging trend for next generation networks, no known book explores multihomed communication with the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). Filling this void, Multihomed Communication with SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) explains this innovative feature that allows an endpoint to simultaneously maintain and use multiple points of connectivity to the network—making it possible for fixed and mobile users to connect to the Internet via multiple service providers or last hop technologies. Among the topics addressed, the book covers: Support of node mobility between networks Concurrent multipath transfer using SCTP multihoming Low delay communication and multimedia applications High performance computing using commodity hardware and software SCTP support in the INET framework and its analysis in the Wireshark packet analyzer SCTP application interface Ideal for researchers and programmers, this forward-looking reference describes SCTP multihoming concepts and implementation, applications of multihoming across different domains, and proposed extensions such as multipath transfer and mobility. Although the book is aimed at those with an advanced background, it also covers the fundamental concepts and mechanisms of SCTP multihoming to help anyone get up to speed on SCTP.

Book Description
Recent advancements in mobile device technologies are revolutionizing how we socialize, interact, and connect. By connecting the virtual community with the local environment, mobile social networks (MSNs) create the opportunity for a multitude of new personalized services for mobile users. Along with that comes the need for new paradigms, mechanisms, and techniques with the capacity to autonomously manage their functioning and evolution. Currently, most books about mobile networks focus mainly on the technical point of view. Mobile Social Networking and Computing: A Multidisciplinary Integrated Perspective not only addresses the theoretical aspects of MSN and computing, but also introduces and categorizes existing applications. It supplies a multidisciplinary perspective that considers the technology, economics, social sciences, and psychology behind MSNs. In addition to fundamental theory, the book investigates the practical issues in MSN, including characteristics, inner structural relationship, incentive mechanisms, resource allocating, information diffusion, search, ranking, privacy, trust, and reputation. Introducing recently developed technologies, modes, and models, the book provides two distinct (but related) viewpoints about MSN applications: socially inspired networking technology and networking technology that uses recent advancements to enhance quality of life. The text illustrates the interaction between the macrolevel structure and the local rational behaviors (microlevel) in MSN. It summarizes currently available MSN development platforms, including Android and iOS, and introduces and categorizes existing applications related to MSN and computing. Both location-based service (LBS) and mobile social networks in proximity (MSNPs) are presented in a comprehensive manner. Highlighting key research opportunities, this much-needed reference outlines incentive mechanisms inspired by classical economics, behavioral economics, and social psychology, and, perhaps for the first time, it presents a summary of the economic and business models of MSNs.
