Surface and mineral rights were purchased from Babcock Lumber and Land Company and the Tellico River Lum ber Company. The 17 7-acre 2-km') Falls Branch Scenic Area near the south-central boundary is the only easement within the study area. The southern boundary of the area will be slightly modified to accommodate a new scenic highway, u.s.forest Service Road 217 - I.
