A Call to Greatness
Author: IsanaMada
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780963521811
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 412
Book Description
In this remarkable age of technical know-how, it is frighteningly obvious that we do not have a well-defined technology for being human beings. We have not been taught to understand ourselves & each other; so, whole generations of humans live & die without achieving even a minimal level of potential fufillment. There are now many who have experienced a moment of truth which can be described as a "Calling." They have been irresistibly drawn into deeper, richer, fuller experience of the greatness which we all are. This book acknowledges & discusses that mysterious "Calling"--which will lead us to a fuller expression of our unique & amazing selves in this amazing world. A CALL TO GREATNESS is a substantive source work which provides clarity where, before, there has been confusion. Sensitively conceived to match the need for understanding in this period of humankind's evolutionary process, it is a clear, fascinating, piece-by piece, working of the puzzle of self-discovery & self-expression. A CALL TO GREATNESS is an intelligent, timely & inspiring book which evokes an expansion of awareness & promotes remarkable movement into the higher levels of consciousness. Additional books may be obtained from Dhyana Press, P.O. Box 470700, San Francisco, CA 94147.

Ocean of Attainments
Author:
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 161429853X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 835
Book Description
This commentary on Guhyasamaja tantra is the seminal guide to deity yoga and tantric visualization for the Geluk school of Tibetan Buddhism. Ocean of Attainments was composed by Khedrup Jé Gelek Palsang (1385–1438), one of Tsongkhapa Losang Drakpa’s most prominent disciples. Its subject is the creation stage, a quintessential Buddhist tantric meditation that together with the completion stage comprises the path of unexcelled tantra. The Guhyasamaja Tantra, referred to as the “king of all tantras,” is revered in Tibet, especially by the Geluk school, for its hermeneutic methods, which are in turn applied to other tantras. In the creation stage, meditators visualize themselves as buddhas at the center of the celestial mandala, surrounded in all directions by male and female bodhisattvas and enlightened beings. Since the core of the practice is visualization, this meditation—perhaps more than other meditations—presumes the creative power of the mind. Visualizations form the basis not only of the creation stage and deity yoga but of all tantric practices and rituals, since tantric practice takes place not in mundane existence but in the illusion-like purity of the enlightened view. While the previously published Essence of the Ocean of Attainments is a concise exposition on the practice of the Guhyasamaja sadhana, Ocean of Attainments is much more detailed, providing extensive scriptural citations, clear explanation of the body mandala, arguments on points of contention, reference to other tantric systems, and critiques of misinterpretations. Complemented by the extensive and clear introduction, this volume is a vital contribution to the growing body of scholarship on Guhyasamaja and on Buddhist tantra in general.

Unraveling the Stars
Author: Brenda Hiatt
Publisher: Brenda Hiatt
ISBN: 1947205307
Category : Young Adult Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 429
Book Description
A terrible choice between love and friendship You suspect your best friend has been sucked into a dangerous cult. Worse, the guy you’re hopelessly in love with is a member! Rescuing your friend will ruin your budding romance…but what choice do you have? Bri and Deb have been besties with M since elementary school, but over the past year and a half she’s changed. The more strange things they notice, the more they think whatever is going on with M has something to do with that new company that recently relocated to Jewel and all the new students whose parents work there. Their suspicions deepen when they start dating two of the hot new boys and notice more and more weird anomalies, like common phrases the boys don’t know and strength and speed that seem to go beyond the ordinary. The more they dig for clues, the more certain they are that M has been drawn into a cult that’s performing dangerous experiments on their members…including M! Confronting her will almost certainly ruin the promising new romances both Bri and Deb are enjoying, but they realize it’s a risk they’ll have to take. What they don’t expect is the incredible truth behind all the “evidence” they’ve collected—or the risk they’ll run by exposing it!
