Book Description
Microclimatic landscape design requires knowledge of prevailing climate conditions, understanding of the ways in which objects in the landscape affect climate to create microclimates, and methods for applyng this knowledge, through landscape design. (Brown, R. D. & Gillespie T. J., 1995). The microclimatic components that can be modified through landscape design are solar radiation, wind, precipitation and others. Modifying the microclimatic components through landscape elements is able to create thermal comfort, energy efficiency and others benefits. Southern Integrated Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan has been selected as site for final year project because it is high energy consuming, high carbon emission and poor linkage. With the intention of integrating peoples and living environment at Southern Integrated Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan through microclimatic landscape design, microclimate of the site has been taken into consideration to benefit both peoples and environment. Design objectives include provide more green space to achieve energy efficiency and improve microclimate of the site, introducing vertical landscape and proper planting selection to improve air quality, introducing green energy as part of the source of power supply and to promote integration of terminal building and rail systems by unify them using softcape.

Book Description
Environmental planning forms the basis of all sustainable site development decisions. It is a vital process for anybody deciding what should go where on any area of land. This text is a clear, step-by-step introduction to planning how a site should be developed in an environmentally sustainable manner and will help the beginner, as well as the professional, identify and understand the problems that arise from the interrelationship between people and the land. It will show what information to collect on the physical, natural and social aspects of the site, how to make sense of the information, how it will be used and how to bring it all together into a coherent site planning proposal. A major part of this new edition illustrates how to apply the principles of sustainable environmental planning at community and local level. It includes a detailed examination of a brownfield site to identify locally applicable strategies for sustainable site development.

Book Description
This book provides a comprehensive review of the evolution and performance of SEZs from a historical and comparative perspective by tracing the experiences of SEZs in 23 developing countries, including Korea, Taiwan, and China. Using a framework that integrates the basic tenets of the industrial cluster approach with existing theories, it proposes a set of evaluation criteria for SEZs. Analysing quantitative data provided by the Ministry of Commerce and qualitative evidence based on field surveys conducted during 2004–9, the book assesses the economic contribution in the pre- and post-SEZ Act periods in India. Exploring the impact of SEZs on employment, trade, foreign exchange earnings, government revenue, and technology transfers, it also examines evidence of social effects vis-à-vis land acquisition, human development, regional inequities, and environmental protection. Discussing the impact of internal dynamics and external forces on future prospects of SEZs, it offers constructive suggestions to make policy investor-friendly and successful.
