Book Description
Growing up in the Normand family in Marksville, La. is captured from the author's perspective. Born in 1947 and living in Marksville until the age of twenty, the author describes each family member, personal experiences, observations, and a look at how different thing were during that period in Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana, a heavily French area. He captures both a historical perspective as well as humorous stories about family members, friends, characters, and even a monster of that time. Many of the events he personally experienced, but other are about his observations of events he had very little to do with; but interesting nonetheless. The idea was hatched with the intent of documenting family history, but eventually expanded as more subjects and stories immerged. It is hoped that this book will both enlighten and entertain the reader; especially if the reader grew up in Avoyelles Parish and/or Marksville. Since most families have a less that perfect history, and "The Waltons" were the perfect family, the title warns that the Normands, unlike the Waltons, were NOT perfect; but we were colorful. I hope enjoy reading this book.
