His Birth.--He was born at Tarsus of Jewish parents, was conversant with heathen literature and customs, but finished his education at the feet of Gamaliel, and became versed in all the lore of Judaism. ii. His Conversion and Call to the Ministry.--He was converted suddenly by the almightiness of Jesus Christ from a zealous persecutor to a praying, loving disciple. The peculiarity of his conversion so impressed him with the sovereignty of grace as to show itself in all his after communications through life. iii.
