Esta edición de Materialismo y empiriocriticismo reproduce íntegramente en facsímil, y con la misma paginación, una de las composiciones tipográficas más utilizadas al reeditar esta obra (= Editorial Cartago, Buenos Aires 1960), la misma que Akal reproduce en 1976 como tomo XIV de las Obras Completas. (Precisamente sólo el tomo I de esas Obras Completas fue coedición de Ayuso y Akal, que desde el tomo II mantuvo tal reedición en solitario; aunque ese tomo I es también de 1974, apareció después que esta obra según el Depósito Legal, número 14.679 y 39.884, y el ISBN, ordinal 61 y 70, respectivamente.) En 1974, un año antes de la muerte del general Franco, cuatro editoriales publican Materialismo y empiriocriticismo de Lenin en España (tres -Fundamentos, Zero y Laia- reproducen Montevideo 1959), y según el ordinal del depósito legal esta de Ayuso habría sido la primera en aparecer ese año, cuarenta y cuatro años después de la primera versión española de Ediciones Jasón, Madrid 1930. Sin embargo el editor no reconoce haber adoptado los fotolitos de la edición bonaerense, limitándose a un genérico: "Esta versión corresponde a la 4a edición rusa preparada por el Instituto de M. L. de la Unión Soviética. Portada: Alberto J. Bzreski". (Alberto José Bzreski Sancho era en 1967 presidente del Grupo Nacional de Artes Gráficas del Sindicato del Papel y Artes Gráficas, en 1969 vicepresidente de la Sección Social del Sindicato de Artes Gráficas de Madrid, y en 1977 director comercial de la imprenta Ediciones Castilla SA.).

Antonio Gramsci's Prison Notebooks have offered concepts, categories, and political solutions that have been applied in a variety of social and political contexts, from postwar Italy to the insurgencies of the Arab Spring. The contributors to Gramsci in the World examine the diverse receptions and uses of Gramscian thought, highlighting its possibilities and limits for understanding and changing the world. Among other topics, they explore Gramsci's importance to Caribbean anticolonial thinkers like Stuart Hall, his presence in decolonial indigenous movements in the Andes, and his relevance to understanding the Chinese Left.
