Sutilmente ou não, a Matemática vai perpassando as visões de realidade de nossos estudantes, contribuindo para não perceberem com clareza contradições imensas no mundo, entre elas a injustiça social. Descartando as evidências numéricas acerca da realidade, nossos alunos parecem recolher dos saberes matemáticos o subsídio à tecnologia e às finanças, não se questionando acerca da realidade social. Uma pesquisa de doutorado do professor João Luiz Muzinatti, que agora se torna livro, contou com alunos de 12 e 13 anos de uma escola particular de São Paulo. A partir de dados produzidos em salas de aula, Muzinatti nos apresenta três episódios narrativos fictícios, nos quais nos apresenta o professor Lucas e seu estagiário Armando. Ambos nos trarão observações, críticas e indagações de nossos alunos de Matemática. Embasado pela Educação Matemática Crítica, o autor discute os episódios no sentido de compartilhar com o leitor a suspeita de que valores, convicções, possíveis questionamentos, mitos e uma considerável passividade quanto às injustiças sociais podem estar sendo transmitidos (pelos educadores) também aos alunos de classes mais favorecidas do ensino fundamental, em aulas de Matemática.

Creating landscapes of investigation is a primary concern of critical mathematics education. It enables us to organise educational processes so that students and teachers are able to get involved in explorations guided by dialogical interactions.
