Book Description
The case for a smarter “prosumer law” approach to Internet regulation that would better protect online innovation, public safety, and fundamental democratic rights. Internet use has become ubiquitous in the past two decades, but governments, legislators, and their regulatory agencies have struggled to keep up with the rapidly changing Internet technologies and uses. In this groundbreaking collaboration, regulatory lawyer Christopher Marsden and computer scientist Ian Brown analyze the regulatory shaping of “code”—the technological environment of the Internet—to achieve more economically efficient and socially just regulation. They examine five “hard cases” that illustrate the regulatory crisis: privacy and data protection; copyright and creativity incentives; censorship; social networks and user-generated content; and net neutrality. The authors describe the increasing “multistakeholderization” of Internet governance, in which user groups argue for representation in the closed business-government dialogue, seeking to bring in both rights-based and technologically expert perspectives. Brown and Marsden draw out lessons for better future regulation from the regulatory and interoperability failures illustrated by the five cases. They conclude that governments, users, and better functioning markets need a smarter “prosumer law” approach. Prosumer law would be designed to enhance the competitive production of public goods, including innovation, public safety, and fundamental democratic rights.

Book Description
An intriguing page-turning and personal account of that most secretive of wartime institutions, Bletchley Park, and of the often eccentric people who helped to win the war Beryl BainbridgeBletchley Park, or 'Station X', was home to the most famous code breakers of the Second World War. The 19th-century mansion was the key center for cracking German, Italian and Japanese codes, providing the allies with vital information. After the war, many intercepts, traffic-slips and paperwork were burned (allegedly at Churchill's behest). The truth about Bletchley was not revealed until F. Winterbotham's The Ultra Secret was published in 1974. However, nothing until now has been written on the German Air Section. In Cracking the Luftwaffe Codes, former WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) Gwen Watkins brings to life the reality of this crucial division. In a highly informative, lyrical account, she details her eventful interview, eventual appointment at the 'the biggest lunatic asylum in Britain', methods for cracking codes, the day-to-day routine and decommissioning of her section.

Book Description
Could the Trump family’s connections to time travel, esoteric knowledge, and secret societies hold clues to unlocking the mysteries of our past and future? By the end of this book, you will be able to connect the uncanny parallels between the novels Lockwood penned over a century ago and the Trump family legacy. Additionally, you will be able to solve the mystery to the upcoming 2024 election season. In the annals of American presidential history, there is no more peculiar tale than the eerie similarities between former President Donald Trump and a series of novels called, The Baron Trump Collection, penned by the obscure yet seemingly prophetic hand of American lawyer and novelist Ingersoll Lockwood in the late 1800s. The Trump Code delves into the connections between the Baron Trump novels and the enigmatic Trump family legacy, asking whether this nineteenth-century novelist foresaw the future of not only Trump but America and the world. It also uncovers a web of historical events and divine providence. Drawing from biblical passages about Enoch, Elijah, the Apostle John, the Mount of Transfiguration, and a mysterious verse in Ephesians on how Christ’s followers are seated in “heavenly places,” along with theories of time travel by Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, and others, The Trump Code connects the pieces of this riveting puzzle, posing the question of whether “truth is stranger than fiction,” as Mark Twain famously said. As we peel back the layers of history, The Trump Code confronts questions that defy easy answers: Could this fictional novel hold clues to the upcoming 2024 presidential election, with all its division and chaos? Is there a divine hand guiding the course of human events, as suggested by the parallels in these novels between fiction and reality? Or are we witnessing the machinations of darker forces, hinted at by the curious numerology surrounding Lockwood’s name?

Book Description
Beyond the obvious and enduring socio-economic ravages it unleashed on indigenous cultures, white settler colonization in Australasia also inflicted profound damage on the collective psyche of both of the communities that inhabited the contested space of the colonial world. The acute sense of alienation that colonization initially provoked in the colonized and colonizing populations of Australia and New Zealand has, recent studies indicate, developed into an endemic, existential pathology. Evidence of the psychological fallout from the trauma of geographical deracination, cultural disorientation and ontological destabilization can be found not only in the state of anomie and self-destructive patterns of behaviour that now characterize the lives of indigenous Australian and Maori peoples, but also in the perpetually faltering identity-discourse and cultural rootlessness of the present descendants of the countries’ Anglo-Celtic settlers. It is with the literary expression of this persistent condition of alienation that the essays gathered in the present volume are concerned. Covering a heterogeneous selection of contemporary Australasian literature, what these critical studies convincingly demonstrate is that, more than two hundred years after the process of colonisation was set in motion, the experience that Germaine Greer has dubbed 'the pain of unbelonging' continues unabated, constituting a dominant thematic concern in the writing produced today by Australian and New Zealand authors.

Book Description
Although law enforcement codes have a history that parallels most other recent occupational and professional codes, they have been almost completely ignored in the literature of occupational and professional ethics. This volume fills that gap and offers teachers in criminal justice ethics and law enforcement practitioners a rich selection of materials that have emerged in the course of law enforcement professionalization. The book's historical and international orientation reveals something of the development and variety of code formation. A detailed introduction covers the role of codes in professional life as well as the purposes, problems, and value of ethical codes. The substantial bibliography offers students and scholars of professional ethics a unique resource for further research.

Book Description
Imagine a suburb beneath the waves; contemplate the idea of palatial living in a pyramid amongst the stars. Codes Set in Stone embraces both of these somewhat grandiose scenarios in a story set in the not too distant future. Containing the essential ingredients of Relationship, Romance and Rescue, the novel tells of men on a mission to solve mysteries and investigate intrigue and skulduggery - a mission that takes them from Belgium to Venice to Rome to the Himalayas and back again and finally culminates in the discovery of an age-old promise contained in a revelatory book with its conundrum of a final code set in a bright, white, shining stone. It is interesting to note that several of the hitherto fictitious events in the story subsequently became fact after the initial manuscript first saw the light of day.

Book Description
Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 The British officer class was reluctant to believe that the good life was about to end. They had always been able to depend on the British to defend them, and they underestimated the Japanese military threat. #2 The Wrens were in specially built wooden quarters, two sharing a cabin, and each with the luxury of an ensuite bathroom. They had locally employed servants. The work could be tiring, but the servicemen and women were still very relaxed. #3 The fighting was coming, and the Wrens knew they might get separated. They decided to get married, and four days later, Lillie and Archie Feeney were evacuated to Colombo with the rest of the codebreakers and intercept operators. #4 The fall of Singapore led to the capture of thousands of Allied servicemen, but John Cox had already been evacuated to Java, as had Geoff Day, while John Watson had sailed for Colombo.
