Book Description
This is the first full-length reference grammar of Mam, a Mayan language spoken today by over 400,000 people in the western highlands of Guatemala and the state of Chiapas, Mexico. The result of over three years of extensive fieldwork in Guatemala, A Grammar of Mam, a Mayan Language is based on the dialect of Mam spoken by 12,000 people in San Ildefonso Ixtahuacan in the department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. England organizes A Grammar of Mam according to two complementary principles: to analyze Mam following basically traditional levels of grammatical description and to present material in such a way that the background information necessary for understanding each topic of discussion shall have been previously provided. Accordingly, England's analysis of the sound system and morphophonemic processes of Mam is followed by a description of the characteristics of root, inflectional, and derivational morphology. Chapters on phrase structure precede two chapters on sentence-level syntax. A Grammar of Mam is of particular interest in analyzing a Mayan language that is both syntactically and morphologically ergative and that is innovative in the direction of strengthening the ergative system. Indeed at all levels of linguistic organization Mam is innovative, and for this reason it is uniquely interesting both historically and theoretically.

Book Description
In their nineties and married for sixty-nine years, Mam and Chase have had an incredible life, full of love, laughter, and family, and enjoyed an almost magical bond that has helped get them through all the various tragedies and traumas that have befallen them over the years. While Mam raised five mischievous children, Chase’s absence when he was on tour took a toll on their relationship. Kidnapping threats only added to the strain for the whole family, and Mam had to find new ways to cope with her feelings. But no matter what happened, the family’s love never wavered. In this, the final book of The Band 4 trilogy, Mam and Chase―along with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren―look back at their lives, revisiting memories both joyful and devastating, and uncovering truths long buried, as they come to terms with the fact that their unbelievable lives are finally, inevitably, nearing their end.

Book Description
This novel by Harriet Theresa Comstock is a story of a woman who lacked beauty and all the marvelous things in life but still found success through prayer. She made a promise to take what was possible from every bit of happiness and incorporate what she could into devotion and kindness. This was the result of having raised her eyes from the earth which had been her battlefield. Excerpt from the book "Jo Morey had always attracted him; her mind, her courage, her defiance of conditions, called forth all that was fine in him. Without fully understanding he recognized in her the qualities that, added to his own, would secure the success he craved. So he taught her, read with her, and made her think. He was not calculating and selfish, the crude foundation was but the safety upon which he built a romance that was as simple and pure as any he had ever known. The plain, brave girl with her quiet humor and delicate ideals appealed mightily to him. His emotions were in abeyance to his good common sense, so he and Jo had planned for a future—never very definite, but always sincere."

Book Description
Rosanne Hewitt-Cromwell has been locked in a love affair with cake and baking for as long as she can remember, from the early days listening as her mam sang happily in the kitchen, delicious sweet smells filling the house, right up to today, standing in her very own kitchen singing and baking more treats than her poor husband can eat. Some favourites from Rosanne's popular baking blog, Like Mam Used to Bake, are included here alongside a whole host of new recipes from childhood memories and experiments in her kitchen. From the ever-popular mint-crisp pie, almond fingers and upside-down cake, to her addictive rocky road, there really is something to suit all tastes. Rosanne even dedicates a chapter to Christmas baking, her favourite time of year. Peppered throughout with helpful hints and strolls down memory lane, this is much more than a cookbook.
