Book Description
This book reviews all aspects of major depressive disorder (MDD), casting light on its neurobiological underpinnings and describing the most recent advances in management. The book is divided into four sections, the first of which discusses MDD from a network science perspective, highlighting the alterations in functional and structural connectivity and presenting insights achieved through resting state functional MRI and the development of neuroimaging-based biomarkers. The second section examines important diagnostic and neurobiological issues, while the third considers the currently available specific treatments for MDD, including biofeedback, neurofeedback, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, neuromodulation therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and complementary and alternative medicine. A concluding section is devoted to promising emerging treatments, from novel psychopharmacological therapies through to virtual reality treatment, immunotherapy, biomarker-guided tailored therapy, and more. Written by leading experts from across the world, the book will be an excellent source of information for both researchers and practitioners.

Book Description
This handy DSM-5(R) Classification provides a ready reference to the DSM-5 classification of disorders, as well as the DSM-5 listings of ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes for all DSM-5 diagnoses. To be used in tandem with DSM-5(R) or the Desk Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria From DSM-5(R), the DSM-5(R) Classification makes accessing the proper diagnostic codes quick and convenient. With the advent of ICD-10-CM implementation in the United States on October 1, 2015, this resource provides quick access to the following: - The DSM-5(R) classification of disorders, presented in the same sequence as in DSM-5(R), with both ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes. All subtypes and specifiers for each DSM-5(R) disorder are included.- An alphabetical listing of all DSM-5 diagnoses with their associated ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes.- Separate numerical listings according to the ICD-9-CM codes and the ICD-10-CM codes for each DSM-5(R) diagnosis.- For all listings, any codable subtypes and specifiers are included with their corresponding ICD-9-CM or ICD-10-CM codes, if applicable. The easy-to-use format will prove indispensable to a diverse audience--for example, clinicians in a variety of fields, including psychiatry, primary care medicine, and psychology; coders working in medical centers and clinics; insurance companies processing benefit claims; individuals conducting utilization or quality assurance reviews of specific cases; and community mental health organizations at the state or county level.

Book Description
This book focuses on risk factors, clinical and biological characteristics, and treatment options for depression. The aim of this book is to provide readers with an up-to-date understanding of the clinical and neurobiological underpinnings of depression as well as promising treatment for depression. The book is divided into five sections, the first of which examines the clinical heterogeneity of depression. Clinical symptoms, risk factors and treatment options of depression during neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration periods differ from those of depression in adults. Section II highlights bio-psychosocial factors in depression. Major depression cannot be understood without considering the psychosocial environment. Interaction between genetic susceptibility and the psychosocial context affect the occurrence of major depression. Section III focuses on biomarkers of depression. It covers from the overview of biomarkers, focusing on diagnosis, subtyping of depression and treatment response prediction to neuroimaging, genetics, and serum markers in depression. Section IV covers neurobiology and management for treatment-resistant depression. It discusses the etiological issues of treatment-resistant depression including genetic susceptibility, structural and functional MRI markers, neurogenesis, neuroinflammation and neuromodulation treatment for treatment-resistant depression. Section V highlights new perspectives of depression. Neurotrophic hypothesis-driven BDNF-TrkB signalling pathways and downstream of neurotransmitters have attracted attention to new pharmacologic targets. Homeostatic regulation of sleep, its dysregulation in mood disorders, and updated theories between inflammations and depression are discussed. The book will provide a better understanding of clinical and biological features and the management of depression, and will also function as a step onto the path toward the ultimate goal of predicting, preventing and treating depression.

Book Description
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the leading cause of disability globally in both developed and developing nations. The staggering economic costs attributable to MDD are largely a consequence of impairment in role function. Evidence indicates that disturbance in the domain of cognitive function in individuals with MDD is the principal determinant of health outcome. This is the first book to comprehensively explore the domain of cognition in MDD. The literature describing cognitive dysfunction is reviewed with particular focus on clinical determinants, pathophysiology and causative factors. The patient subpopulations most susceptible are defined. A summary of contemporary assessment tools for research and clinical purposes is provided. Multimodality treatments and prevention strategies are described. This book is an invaluable resource for psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and other members of the mental health team, as well as for policy makers, vocation rehabilitation experts, disability providers and other stakeholders interested in improving health outcomes in MDD.

Book Description
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a clinically and neurobiologically highly heterogenous mood disorder that consists of a variety of symptom clusters including mood symptoms, physical symptoms, and cognitive symptoms. While the traditional model of depression implicates mood as the primary symptom cluster, a more recently published conceptual understanding of depression has extended to also include cognitive symptoms. Moreover, the understanding of the central role of cognitive processes in emotion processing, social interaction, and pure cognitive performance has led to a model suggestion that places cognitive processing central to the pathophysiology of depression. Cognitive dimensions of depression have long been implicated in the nature of depression that are characterised typically by impaired cognitive and emotional processes. In the following volume the dimensions of cognitive function, emotion processing, and social cognitive processing are highlighted to comprehensively describe large parts of the clinical symptoms as well as the pathophysiology and biology of the brain-based disorder of depression. The focus on the above cognitive and emotional dimensions of depression offers extended and novel diagnostic and treatment approaches ranging from pharmacological to psychological interventions targeting those dimensions of depression. This volume informs about some of the more fundamental psychological, biological and clinical concepts that are applicable to the comprehensive treatment of depression and is suitable for students, trainees, clinicians and scientists in the fields of psychology, neuropsychology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, neurology, general medicine / general practice and other health care professionals as it will also cover core knowledge and skills for training as well as practice.
