Análisis exhaustivo de la situación laboral de las mujeres en la Unión Europea, estudiando sus orígenes y su desarrollo, desde el punto de vista de los diversos derechos que se van reconociendo de lo femenino con relación a lo masculino en el ámbito laboral. Además, se examinan las medidas específicas que se aplican en la UE para paliar las desigualdades y aumentar la participación de las mujeres en el mercado laboral, así como reducir las diferencias de salarios e ingresos con el fin de lograr la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres y, si estas estrategias son suficientes para conseguir una mayor integración de la perspectiva de género. Se profundiza en lo que significa el Principio de Igualdad en los distintos Tratados de la Unión, así como, en el Derecho Derivado, y en la jurisprudencia del TJUE.
