Book Description
This first full-length biography documents the strong family ties and loyalties that shaped Daniels's character and demonstrates the extent to which his religion bred not only the merry puritanism but also the moral courage that figured in his career and in his personal life. There is ample evidence to show that in spite of dire forecasts of disaster, he succeeded where his critics insisted that he must fail. His was a triumph of temperament over inexperience, of character over qualifications. Originally published in 1966. Book Description
Bill Beckham gives a historical and strategic perspective of God's expansion people movement that is built upon the unique and interrelated groups of 3, 12, and 70. He makes the case that the church must do three things in the 21st century: (1) Add a mid-sized group of seventy that can organize and supervise church planting expansion, (2) make Christ the presence, power, and purpose of existing and future small groups, and (3) establish friendship triads of two or three as the contagious factor for making disciples and reaching unbelievers. Beckham gives a five-step strategy through which a church, up and down the spectrum from a mini church, mega church, cell church, or a church plant, can, by using Jesus' groups of 3/12/70, experience New Testament expansion rather than just growing or maintaining in a building.

Book Description
70 The Dawn of New Beginning is about the thirteen-year journey of Joseph's suffering""from being a prisoner until he became the prime minister of Egypt. It is about twenty-five years of Abraham's walk with God before the birth of Isaac, from bareness to fruitfulness. It is about the nation of Israel when Jerusalem is finally recognized as the capital of Israel. This book is about "new beginning of" and "commissioning of" some truths worth knowing by the believer and unbelievers alike. When unbelievers give their lives to the Lord, it is a new beginning for them. There are some significant truths marked by the ages 20, 40, 50, 70, 80, 120 that specify certain noticeable milestones in the ongoing life of believers. For example, biblical age for emancipation is twenty, purpose driven is at age forty, an established life at fifty, and new beginnings at seventy. Israel turning seventy was marked by Jerusalem declared as the capital city by the United States.

Book Description
Each spring as the Kentucky Derby grows near, a kind of frenzy hits a wide section of the population. People suddenly turn their attention to Churchill Downs, and the anticipation of the Run for the Roses sends everyone into "Derby fever." Here in his third book on the Kentucky Derby, Jim Bolus brings together a collection of his favorite Derby Stories that are sure to make an avid race fan out of anyone. Bolus covers a wide range of topics--from "the Duke" at the Derby; to the famous Derby photograph of the Fighting Finish in 1933; to his favorite Derby, the 1969 running. Also included are such champions as Whirlaway, Exterminator, Secretariat, Spend a Buck, and Nashua. Bolus has devoted a chapter to the Stevens family, whose horse-racing roots trace back more than 120 years, and to the Derby chart callers, those men who through the years have documented the race for posterity. Bolus also relates his own personal experiences as a bettor (and a loser!) on the Derby. In particular, he devotes a chapter to Holy Land, a horse who ran in the 1970 race but lost his jockey and the race. It's a pick Bolus has been kidded about a lot over the years. An authority on the subject, Jim Bolus has conducted hundreds of interviews about the Derby. With this book, readers will understand his passion for the grand old race and its traditions as they learn why so many get Derby fever every spring. Also by Jim Bolus are Remembering the Derby and Kentucky Derby Stories, both published by Pelican.

Book Description
The foundation of democracy is the pursuit of the Greater Good. As a country, we pursue what is good for most of the people, most of the time. But that is not our approach for the care of our elderly. Of the 330 million people in America 77 million are baby boomers. In the next 10 years a staggering majority of them turned 60. Even though it would be for the Greater Good of America, there are no provisions for taking care of these aging lives. There are only time bombs: • Currently, there are 2.3 million falls per year among the elderly in nursing homes. There will be 80 million per year when the baby boomers come of nursing home age • On the average, baby boomers will have 4 to 5 chronic illnesses by the time they are 65…that equates to 350 million chronic conditions • 77 million families will be impacted by the disabilities and chronic conditions imposed on them by aging baby boomers • 77 million households are not equipped and never will be to handle chronic illnesses and dependent lives • $77 trillion dollars will be imposed annually on the budgets of State and Federal Governments to care for the aging boomers • The 46 million uninsured will become 100 million as the baby boomers become retirement age and unemployed • There are currently 1.7 million nursing home patients in 18,000 nursing homes and 4 million assisted living residents in 23,000 assisted living facilities. We will need 12 times as many nursing homes and 15 times as many assisted living facilities to handle the 77 million baby boomers in a supportive setting • 2 million physicians, 2 million nurses, 7,500 hospitals and 750,000 other health professionals cannot handle the needs of 77 million aging baby boomers. But they do want their share of the health care dollars. Making the radical change from health maintenance to prevention and health preservation would serve the greater good and make more Medicare money available. On top of these time bombs we have 77 million high expectations. If we are expecting these 77 million baby boomers to just accept nursing homes and assisted living as they are…think again. They tend to be dependent on others for their approach to health care and generally are not staying healthy; nor are they schooled on preserving their health and do not pay more for poor health. Compounding this, their health care providers are not schooled in detecting cause or in pursuing measurable outcomes. But they are paid regardless of results

Book Description
Reframe challenges as opportunities, not obstacles There is a mountain of hype around positive thinking. But have you noticed that positive thinking doesn’t, well, work? That’s because positivity is just an emotion, and at the end of the day it doesn’t change the reality of the situations we face. The Simple Shift turns positive thinking on its head and transforms it into something practical – a way of adopting beliefs that can change the way you see reality and make major obstacles into easily resolvable issues. This book helps you develop the self-awareness to know when and how your thoughts are holding you back. Instead of just trying to ignore negative thoughts or pretend that problems don’t exist, why not actually change them, using useful thinking? Control your perception and start to turn your life around with The Simple Shift. • Overcome life’s obstacles by transforming the way you perceive problems • Discover why what’s “true” doesn’t matter as much as what’s “useful” • Triumph when times are tough by adopting a simple shift in thinking • Uncover the valuable lessons you've already learned by overcoming past challenges This book provides a clear and practical path for retraining your brain to see opportunities rather than obstacles. It’s not about putting on rose-coloured glasses and pretending that problems don’t exist. Rather, you can choose to train your mindset towards what is useful, guiding you to better outcomes in life, love and work.

Book Description
Winner of the American Book Award: May Sarton’s honest and engrossing journal of her seventieth year, spent living and working on the Maine coast. May Sarton’s journals are a captivating look at a rich artistic life. In this, her ode to aging, she savors the daily pleasures of tending to her garden, caring for her dogs, and entertaining guests at her beloved Maine home by the sea. Her reminiscences are raw, and her observations are infused with the poetic candor for which Sarton—over the course of her decades-long career—became known. An enlightening glimpse into a time—the early 1980s—and an age, At Seventy is at once specific and universal, providing a unique window into septuagenarian life that readers of all generations will enjoy. At times mournful and at others hopeful, this is a beautiful memoir of the year in which Sarton, looking back on it all, could proclaim, “I am more myself than I have ever been.”
