Book Description
Liberals, Democrats, and Leftists are rarely in a good mood. And they’re certainly not happy when in the presence of conservatives or free-thinking independents—that is to say, when coming into contact with at least half of the country. Their tendency to zealously spread discomfort and misery has been something of a mystery…until now. In great detail, Liberal Misery explains exactly what drives America’s Left to be such a wet blanket. From COVID to the Black Lives Matter movement to even everyday socializing, Liberals are joyless nags. Now we know why.

Book Description
Refugees from high-tax Massachusetts turned New Hampshire blue. Democratic voters from Yankee states are swamping Tennessee and Georgia. Government employees and refugees from Maryland have turned Virginia from a conservative Southern state into left-leaning Democrat territory. Escapees from California have transformed Colorado, and they’re aiming for Texas next. One state after another is turning from red to purple to blue. America is being radically changes by people leaving blue states for better living conditions and opportunities in red states—only to import to their new homes the very policies that created the misery they fled from in the first place. The direction of the change is undeniable: • A 2019 poll found that 53 percent of residents are considering leaving California on account of the exorbitant cost of living • From 2008-2018, Houston's population surged more than 15 percent, and the top metro areas of origin for those new Texas residents were Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago • Migration from blue states is changing the Texas electorate: between 2010 and 2018, votes for Democrats went up 50 percent, while Republican votes increased by just 10 percent • Boom is turning to bust in cities like Denver, as hip blue state refugees to red states raise the cost of living by voting in liberal policies The liberal invasion of the conservative states is having major impacts on our elections, our economy, and our standard of living. And yet few Americans are even aware of the trend, and fewer still have any idea of the significant implications for the future of the United States. Now, in The Liberal Invasion of Red State America, indefatigable reporter Kristin Tate delves into the data, lays out the astonishing statistics, and explores the likely consequences of this under-the-radar trend. If you want to understand the movement that is reshaping our country, read this groundbreaking book.

Book Description
The United States today cries out for a robust, self-respecting, intellectually sophisticated left, yet the very idea of a left appears to have been discredited. In this brilliant new book, Eli Zaretsky rethinks the idea by examining three key moments in American history: the Civil War, the New Deal and the range of New Left movements in the 1960s and after including the civil rights movement, the women's movement and gay liberation.In each period, he argues, the active involvement of the left - especially its critical interaction with mainstream liberalism - proved indispensable. American liberalism, as represented by the Democratic Party, is necessarily spineless and ineffective without a left. Correspondingly, without a strong liberal center, the left becomes sectarian, authoritarian, and worse. Written in an accessible way for the general reader and the undergraduate student, this book provides a fresh perspective on American politics and political history. It has often been said that the idea of a left originated in the French Revolution and is distinctively European; Zaretsky argues, by contrast, that America has always had a vibrant and powerful left. And he shows that in those critical moments when the country returns to itself, it is on its left/liberal bases that it comes to feel most at home.

Book Description
A psychiatric case study masquerading a fancy-pants graphic novel, Misery Loves Comedy collects Ivan Brunetti's early issues (no pun intended) wait, let's rephrase that. Misery Loves Comedy collects the first three issues of the legendary comic book series Schizo in their entirety, as well as a host of miscellaneous flotsam and jetsam from various anthologies, c. 1992-2005. Readers will find the author's unwitting self-caricature as a paranoid, deluded young man intriguingly repugnant and often chuckle-inducing. Besides Brunetti's trademark nihilism, self-loathing, relentless depression, and inchoate, spittle-soaked misanthropy, these earlier comics offer a dollop of scatology and blasphemy for that extra puerile, lowbrow tang. These are comics for those who enjoy witnessing one man's sanity in its final death rattle, swinging its tail from anhedonia to schadenfreude and back again. Also: lots and lots of filthy jokes. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.9px Arial; color: #424242}

Book Description
America’s worst ideas and people are rising to the top, thanks to a rancid culture that has turned every part of our lives into a fight between so-called “privilege” and entitled brats claiming “victim” status. The country is under siege and America’s most ferocious enemy is already here: our privileged victims. On university campuses, in the news media, and in Hollywood, race, gender, and sexuality determine who should advance and who should be taken down a peg. Driven by “social justice” and governed by “intersectionality,” out-of-control college students, school administrators, journalists, and titans of the entertainment industry divide and rank us on an infinite scale of grievance—the more of them, the better. And God have mercy on any individual deemed to benefit from “privilege.” Privileged Victims zealously exposes the lies and myths behind: • The #MeToo movement that redefined sexual assault and rape to include simple regret, ruining the lives and careers of countless men • Hoax hate crimes, a key feature of the privileged victim class • The debate over our jungle-like immigration system, dumbed down by a scheming national news media to ugly charges of racism and xenophobia • Hollywood, which no longer aims to produce high-quality entertainment, but to virtue signal and promote "social justice" And so much more. In gripping detail, Eddie Scarry uncovers the perversion behind social justice and its identity-first dogma that’s replacing America’s meritocracy, tracing its origins in academia and shining a light on the havoc it has wrought over the course of three decades. Bewildered citizens mistakenly believe that it’s a matter of political correctness gone too far or the ailing symptoms of a country that has grown too sensitive. The truth is much worse: it's a deliberate, malignant reorganization of American life and the replacement of merit with mediocrity is the ultimate destination. “How did everyone in America get so unhappy all of a sudden? In part, because it pays. Eddie Scarry lays out the scam in this infuriating and fascinating book. It’ll make you never want to complain again, just for the sake of being countercultural.” —Tucker Carlson, Host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News and Author of Ship of Fools "What I love about Eddie is his courage. He knows the outrage mob is constantly coming and he doesn't care. Some of us call that being a First Amendment advocate. Count me as a fan and a reader."—Megyn Kelly

Book Description
This is Mises's classic statement in defense of a free society, one of the last statements of the old liberal school and a text from which we can continue to learn. It has been the conscience of a global movement for liberty for 80 years. This edition, from the Mises Institute, features a new foreword by Thomas Woods. It first appeared in 1927, as a followup to both his devastating 1922 book showing that socialism would fail, and his 1926 book on interventionism. It was written to address the burning question: if not socialism, and if not fascism or interventionism, what form of social arrangements are most conducive to human flourishing? Mises's answer is summed up in the title, by which he meant classical liberalism. Mises did more than restate classical doctrine. He gave a thoroughly modern defense of freedom, one that corrected the errors of the old liberal school by rooting the idea of liberty in the institution of private property (a subject on which the classical school was sometimes unclear). Here is the grand contribution of this volume. "The program of liberalism, therefore, if condensed into a single word, would have to read: property, that is, private ownership of the means of production... All the other demands of liberalism result from this fundamental demand." But there are other insights too. He shows that political decentralization and secession are the best means to peace and political liberty. As for religion, he recommends the complete separation of church and state. On immigration, he favors the freedom of movement. On culture, he praised the political virtue of tolerance. On education: state involvement must end, and completely. He deals frankly with the nationalities problem, and provides a stirring defense of rationalism as the essential foundation of liberal political order. He discusses political strategy, and the relationship of liberalism to special-interest politics. In some ways, this is the most political of Mises's treatises, and also one of the most inspiring books ever written on the idea of liberty. It remains the book that can set the world on fire for freedom, which is probably why it has been translated into more than a dozen languages.

Book Description
This book brings together for the first time an updated, revised collection of influential essays and articles that capture some of the most exciting scientific and scholarly contributions to the topic of political ideology. John Jost tackles fundamental questions about how psychology, neuroscience, and societal factors impact political attitudes and group divisions. In what sense, if any, are ordinary citizens "ideological"? Is it useful to locate political attitudes on a single dimension of representation? Are there meaningful differences in the beliefs, opinions, and values of leftists and rights-or liberals and conservatives? How are personality traits related to ideological preferences? What situational or contextual factors contribute to liberal and conservative shifts in the general population? What are the implications of ideological polarization for the future of democracy? Drawing on Max Weber's concept of elective affinities, one of the world's leading political psychologists discusses the myriad ways in people choose ideas and ideas choose people.

Book Description
Presidential elections divide Americans in a lot of ways—by political party, ideology, and religion. But now, there’s a new way. They separate the adults from the perpetual children who have come to dominate much of our national discourse. You see it in the hysterical news coverage of the coronavirus, the lawless rioting of the Black Lives Matter moment, and the endless persecution of a president who Democrats react to with the rage of a toddler. As the 2020 presidential election approaches, the choice becomes clear: either join them all as another child, or grow up and vote to reelect Donald Trump.
