Book Description
The ethics and philosophy of Freemasonry depend on monotheistic religions and the ancient constitution of the Freemasons. The constitution describes the rules and rituals that members must follow. Some of the ceremonies incorporate stonemasonry tools, which symbolize not only the construction of Solomon’s Temple, but also the forging of partnerships. While masonic practices are cloaked in secrecy, this collection gathers the best-known sources portraying the statutes, laws, symbols, rituals, and customs of Masonic societies. Contents: THE PRINCIPLES OF MASONIC LAW THE SYMBOLISM OF FREEMASONRY THE MYSTERIES OF FREE MASONRY MORALS AND DOGMA OF THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY PROOFS OF A CONSPIRACY WASHINGTON'S MASONIC CORRESPONDENCE MASONIC MONITOR OF THE DEGREES OF ENTERED APPRENTICE

(The Masonic controversy was the only point upon which the two divisions of the party were separated, but that separation I feared was irreconcileable. The party in opposition to the State Government, and friendly to the present federal administration, was necessarily Masonic, by adherence to their chief; himself DEGREES illustrious with Masonic acquirements and dignities/ The National Republicans were Masonic, by the declared adherence of their Chief to the same institution of which he was a distinguished member, and indications were not wanting that all the differences of principle between those two parties, ardent and bitter as they were, would be swallowed up, in the transcendent common interest of Freemasonry. So it had emphatically proved in the State of Vermont, and such was, in my apprehension, likely to be the issue in Massachusetts. It was with extreme reluctance that I consented to be placed within the wind of this commotion, for I saw that it would bring me in collision with the party then still wielding the power of the State, and with whose general principles and policy my own were in full accord. '. I had recently been re-elected, by the co-operation of that party, in the Congressional district where I reside, to a seat in the House of Representatives of the United States. I had previously been nominated by a Convention of the members of that party, as well as by an Antimasonic, and also a Republican Convention, to represent the District of Plymouth in the last Congress. At the expiration of that term of service, I was again nominated by an Antimasonic, and also by a National Republican Convention, to represent

Book Description
Washington's Masonic Correspondence As Found among the Washington Papers in the Library of Congress by Julius Friedrich Sachse Washington's Masonic correspondence as found among the Washington papers in the Manuscript department of the Library of Congress, affords an insight of the great esteem in which Washington held the Masonic Fraternity, of which since his early days he had been an honored member. This is further shown by his great courtesy to the Brethren, in his replies to their addresses, no matter whether they were from a Grand or Subordinate Lodge. In this collection, were also found some of the original drafts of Washington's replies, together with copies of the various masonic addresses and letters to him, and in the case of Dominie Snyder, press copies of his answers. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. In the present work an attempt has been made to group this matter together in chronological order, also to show some of the surroundings and conditions under which this correspondence was made, and of the Brethren who were prominent in the presentation of these Eleven Addresses, which came to him from Seven of the Thirteen Colonies. A complete set of photostatic fac-similes of these documents in the Library of Congress, has been secured for the Museum of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. Efforts were also made to obtain photographic copies of such of the Washington Masonic letters as were still in existence, which were successful except in two instances as noted in the text.
