CONTEXTE Plus de 90% des Françaises de 15 à 49 ans utilisent une contraception, soit l'un des taux les plus élevés au monde. Pourtant, le taux d'IVG en France continue d'augmenter depuis les années 1990 malgré une contraception utilisée par plus de la moitié des femmes réalisant une IVG. Les études se sont penchées jusqu'à présent sur l'évaluation de l'observance contraceptive, sans prendre en compte ni la satisfaction des femmes, ni leurs attentes vis-à-vis de la contraception. L'objectif principal de notre étude est de déterminer ces attentes chez les Françaises de 15 à 49 ans en 2021. METHODE Réalisation d'une étude épidémiologique descriptive transversale multicentrique à l'aide d'un auto-questionnaire distribué de décembre 2020 à février 2021 dans plusieurs cabinets médicaux des Hauts-de-France, au planning familial de Lille et sur Internet. RESULTATS 1147 questionnaires ont été analysés. Il en ressort une satisfaction contraceptive loin d'être optimale, avec 17,5% de femmes insatisfaites et 1/3 souhaitant changer de contraception, en particulier celles sous pilule. On observe un manque de connaissance des différentes méthodes, notamment des DIU, qui obtiennent pourtant la meilleure satisfaction (6,5/10) et attirent 40% des femmes souhaitant changer de contraception. Les femmes souhaitent une contraception connue, facile à utiliser et si possible sans hormone. Pourtant, la pilule reste la contraception la plus prescrite en France. L'adéquation de la contraception avec le corps, le couple, la sexualité et le mode de vie est également essentielle, tout comme son remboursement. A l'inverse, les troubles de la libido et de l'humeur ainsi que la prise de poids sont jugés comme inacceptables. L'ensemble de ces paramètres devraient être pris en considération sans frein ni jugement lors de la prescription. Enfin, 41% des femmes seraient prêtes à laisser la responsabilité contraceptive à leur partenaire. CONCLUSION L'absence de contraception stable depuis 2016 (8%) et l'insatisfaction globale démontrent une inadéquation entre l'offre contraceptive actuelle et les attentes des femmes en 2021. La lente évolution de la contraception masculine y participe également. Cette étude permet de prendre conscience des attentes des femmes sur la contraception afin d'améliorer leur satisfaction ainsi que la couverture contraceptive. Un approfondissement des connaissances ainsi qu'une modification des pratiques contraceptives des professionnels de santé, notamment concernant les DIU chez les nullipares, serait essentiel pour une prise en charge optimale de la contraception en France.

This book examines the nature and significance of the impact of population growth on the weIl-being of developing countries-in particular, the effects on economic growth, education, health, food supply, housing, poverty, and the environment. In addition, because family planning programmes often significantly affect population growth, the study examines the impacts of family planning on fertility and health, and the human rights implications of family planning programmes. In considering the book's conclusions about the impact of population growth on development, four caveats should be noted. First, the effects of population growth vary from place to place and over time. Thus, blanket statements about overall effects often cannot be made. Where possible, the authors note the contexts in which population effects are strongest and weakest. Second, all of the outcomes examined in this book are influenced by factors other than population growth. Moreover, the impact of population growth may itself vary according to the presence or absence of other factors. This again makes bl anket statements about the effects of population growth difficult. Throughout the chapters, the authors try to identify other relevant factors that influence the outcomes we discuss or that influence the impact of population growth on those outcomes.

The Male Pill is the first book to reveal the history of hormonal contraceptives for men. Nelly Oudshoorn explains why it is that, although the technical feasibility of male contraceptives was demonstrated as early as the 1970s, there is, to date, no male pill. Ever since the idea of hormonal contraceptives for men was introduced, scientists, feminists, journalists, and pharmaceutical entrepreneurs have questioned whether men and women would accept a new male contraceptive if one were available. Providing a richly detailed examination of the cultural, scientific, and policy work around the male pill from the 1960s through the 1990s, Oudshoorn advances work at the intersection of gender studies and the sociology of technology. Oudshoorn emphasizes that the introduction of contraceptives for men depends to a great extent on changing ideas about reproductive responsibility. Initial interest in the male pill, she shows, came from outside the scientific community: from the governments of China and India, which were interested in population control, and from Western feminists, who wanted the responsibilities and health risks associated with contraception shared more equally between the sexes. She documents how in the 1970s, the World Health Organization took the lead in investigating male contraceptives by coordinating an unprecedented, worldwide research network. She chronicles how the search for a male pill required significant reorganization of drug-testing standards and protocols and of the family-planning infrastructure—including founding special clinics for men, creating separate spaces for men within existing clinics, enrolling new professionals, and defining new categories of patients. The Male Pill is ultimately a story as much about the design of masculinities in the last decades of the twentieth century as it is about the development of safe and effective technologies.
