Physiology of the Special Senses (Classic Reprint)

Book Description
Excerpt from Physiology of the Special Senses I hope that this volume may be of service to two classes of readers. Students of Psychology may desire to obtain more information regarding the physiological side of the senses than is usually found in works professedly dealing with psychology. I think such students will find this book of use if they read it in conjunction with Professor Myers' admirable treatise on Experimental Psychology. Another class of readers which I have had in mind are those who are either taking up physiology as a branch of liberal education, or with a view of presenting themselves for certain higher professional examinations. In either case a somewhat more detailed knowledge of physiology is required than can be obtained from the general textbooks of the subject, while time hardly permits of much use being made of original sources of information. The necessity in such cases arises for books intermediate between the text-book and the original memoir. In most branches of physiology this want is abundantly supplied, but I am not acquainted with any such aids to study in the case of the senses. This hook may help to fill the gap. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
