Book Description
Bridge the gap between pathophysiology and clinical medicine in a succinct outline of core internal medicine topics! Originally created and road-tested by a resident and then updated by a team of resident authors, Huppert’s Notes succinctly organizes the foundational science covered early in medical school and the clinical approaches encountered in clerkships and beyond. This marriage of pathophysiology and clinical medicine provides a framework for how to approach internal medicine concepts mechanistically, rather than through memorization. You’ll find concise descriptions of common medical conditions with diagnostic and management pearls, as well as high-yield diagrams and tables to emphasize key concepts. Book Description
RAPID Neurology & Neurosurgery The Rapids are a series of two-colour reference and revision pocket books that cover key facts in a simple and memorable way. Each book covers the common conditions or drugs that students and junior doctors encounter on the wards, in clinics, and in their exams. The core relevant facts are provided to ensure these books are perfect concise ‘rapid refreshers’. To see all titles in the series, go to: www.wiley.com/go/rapids Rapid Neurology and Neurosurgery is a must for all medical students and junior doctors-it is a quick and easy on-the-ward or clinical reference and the perfect revision tool for those approaching finals, undergraduate neurology and neurosurgery examinations and the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examinations. It provides a concise, structured approach to neurology and neurosurgery learning, covering key fact in a simple and memorable way: PART I (The Basics) features the basic principles and facts essential for a good understanding of neurology and neurosurgery and includes sections on relevant neuroanatomy, neurological history and examination, and investigation including neurophysiology and neuroradiology. MRI and CT scans are included throughout the text. PART II (Complaints: Face-to-Face with the patient) features OSCE-style and viva-voce examination preparation and has chapters on presenting complaints, with relevant and selected questions to ask for establishing the differential diagnoses (presented in a table) with basic investigations and management. PART III (Conditions: Applying the basics) presents important clinical conditions with sections on definition, epidemiology, aetiology, associations/risk factors, pathology, history, examination, investigations, management, complications, prognosis and a list of differential diagnoses with general clinical information and distinguishing information to exclude the alternative diagnoses. Each chapter includes key points to remember and highlights key facts. Rapid Neurology and Neurosurgery contains only the essential, core, and relevant facts in a concise, pocket-sized, ‘rapid’ refresher-providing a thorough foundation of neurology and neurosurgery knowledge that will allow you to excel in the examinations. Book Description
The Neurology of Eye Movements provides clinicians with a synthesis of current scientific information that can be applied to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of ocular motility. Basic scientists will also benefit from descriptions of how data from anatomical, electrophysiological, pharmacological, and imaging studies can be directly applied to the study of disease. By critically reviewing such basic studies, the authors build a conceptual framework that can be applied to the interpretation of abnormal ocular motor behavior at the bedside. These syntheses are summarized in displays, new figures, schematics and tables. Early chapters discuss the visual need and neural basis for each functional class of eye movements. Two large chapters deal with the evaluation of double vision and systematically evaluate how many disorders of the central nervous system affect eye movements. This edition has been extensively rewritten, and contains many new figures and an up-to-date section on the treatment of abnormal eye movements such as nystagmus. A major innovation has been the development of an option to read the book from a compact disc, make use of hypertext links (which bridge basic science to clinical issues), and view the major disorders of eye movements in over 60 video clips. This volume will provide pertinent, up-to-date information to neurologists, neuroscientists, ophthalmologists, visual scientists, otalaryngologists, optometrists, biomedical engineers, and psychologists.

Book Description
Basic Clinical Neuroscience offers medical and other health professions students a clinically oriented description of human neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. This text provides the anatomic and pathophysiologic basis for understanding neurologic abnormalities through concise descriptions of functional systems with an emphasis on medically important structures and clinically important pathways. It emphasizes the localization of specific anatomic structures and pathways with neurological deficits, using anatomy enhancing 3-D illustrations. Basic Clinical Neuroscience also includes boxed clinical information throughout the text, a key term glossary section, and review questions at the end of each chapter, making this book comprehensive enough to be an excellent Board Exam preparation resource in addition to a great professional training textbook. Book Description
This is a clinical neurology book for the student, non neurologist, and those that teach them. The book covers neuroanatomy, history taking and examination and then proceeds to discuss the clinical features of common problems as well as some of the more common rare, neurological disorders, in a way that will demystify a part of medicine that students find complex and difficult to understand. The book is accompanied by a DVD explaining concepts, demonstrating techniques of performing the neurological examination and demonstration of abnormal neurological signs. The first chapter is devoted to neuroanatomy from a clinical viewpoint. The concept of localising problems by likening the nervous system to a map grid with vertical meridians of longitude (the ascending sensory pathways and the descending motor pathway)and horizontal parallels of latitude (cortical signs, brainstem cranial nerves, nerve roots and peripheral nerves) of the nervous system is developed. Subsequent chapters take the reader through the neurological examination and the common neurological presentations from a symptom oriented approach. Chapter 4 contains a very simple method of understanding the brainstem, the "rule of 4". Chapter 6 discusses the approach after the history and examination are completed. The final chapter is an overview of how to approach information gathering and keeping up-to-date using the complex information streams available. - widely illustrated with case studies and illustrations - key points - clinical questions - clinical orientation with comprehensive references
