Elle a un impact psycho-social important qui peut entraîner stress et dépression, eux-mêmes facteurs déclenchant de crise. Un cercle vicieux s'installe donc facilement. Pour traiter correctement un patient psoriasique, il faut le considérer dans sa globalité, comme individu et non pas seulement comme malade. Il faut donc déterminer le traitement le plus approprié en tenant compte de la gravité de la maladie mais aussi des désirs du patient et de son rythme de vie. De nombreux traitements existent : traitements locaux, généraux, biothérapies... Cependant des progrès restent à faire pour proposer des traitements plus ciblés et moins contraignants. Grâce à ses connaissances et à sa proximité avec les patients, le pharmacien d'officine a une place de choix dans la prise en charge et le suivi du patient psoriasique au jour le jour.
