Des essais de flottation à l'air dissous ont été réalisés pour effectuer la séparation solide-liquide d'un effluent en provenance d'une lagune aérée et de la liqueur mixte d'un traitement biologique par boues activées. Sous toutes les conditions étudiées, la flottation a permis des enlèvements très efficaces de solides, même lors de la situation de foisonnement des boues, avec une utilisation minimale d'agents floculants. Ces essais, combinés des résultats antérieurs d'essais pour les traitements biologiques, ont permis de concevoir un système à l'échelle industrielle et d'effectuer une comparaison technico-économique.
