Muchas de las propuestas didácticas en torno al uso de las matemáticas en la vida cotidiana consisten en la aplicación de contenidos matemáticos que se enseñan en las distintas etapas de educación secundaria. Sin embargo el presente libro se aleja pretendidamente de dicho enfoque puesto que parte de la constatación de que las distintas situaciones y actividades vitales no se organizan ni por asignaturas ni contenidos e involucran además distintas competencias y saberes. This book adopts an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the development of mathematical reasoning in both children and adults and to show how understanding the learner’s cognitive processes can help teachers develop better strategies to teach mathematics.
