La falta de interés y motivación en los estudiantes de química general en cursos masivos universitarios y nuestra búsqueda de mejorar el proceso de aprendizaje nos ha llevado a proponer una alternativa para realizar las clases de trabajos prácticos de laboratorio. El propósito de este libro es presentar nuestras experiencias con los estudiantes y los cambios que realizamos efectivamente en las guías de tres laboratorios que tenían enfoques tradicionales. Además, presentamos una herramienta muy útil para el funcionamiento interno de la cátedra en relación a los docentes ayudantes: las guías para el docente. Explicamos en este libro cómo buscamos que el estudiante asocie ideas y conceptos para resolver un problema y no sólo seguir instrucciones. Confiamos que este enfoque no tradicional será de gran ayuda en el resto de su carrera y en el futuro quehacer como profesional ingeniero.
