En la investigación que se llevó a cabo se analizaron dos aspectos de la clase de lectura en inglés: la importancia del cuento para desarrollar el gusto por la lectura y el trabajo colaborativo como facilitador de la habilidad lectora. El objetivo general es identificar la influencia de las actividades colaborativas de lectura sobre la habilidad lectora. Los objetivos específicos son: a) investigar el efecto del cuento sobre el gusto por la lectura, b) determinar los elementos del proceso del aprendizaje de una segunda lengua que favorecen la comprensión y la adquisición de la habilidad lectora, c) determinar los tipos de actividades colaborativas de lectura, d) identificar los procesos de aprendizaje de una segunda lengua que conttribuyen a la adquisición de la habilidad lectora. En primer lugar se revisa la literatura, en particular, la relacionada con lectura en segunda lengua, la cual pone de manifiesto la efectividad de las estrategias, el cuento y el trabajo colaborativo. Tras la descripción detallada de las características y el diseño del experimento, se exponen los resultados obtenidios; éstos corroboran la existencia de una mejora tanto en la habilidad lectora, como en el gusto por la lectura del cuento. Las principales dificultades estuvieron en la socialización de los integrantes, los roles y el establecimiento de reglas. Por último se extraen conclusiones, se consideran las posibles implicaciones metodológicas y se sugieren posibles vías de continuación de la investigación.
