Ce mémoire cherche à étudier certains éléments de cette dynamique compliquée dans le roman Nikolski écrit par l'auteur québécois contemporain Nicholas Dickner, soit le rôle de la matrice hétérosexuelle, de l'agentivité et de la performativité dans la construction identitaire. Nous analyserons le développement identitaire des trois protagonistes du roman afin de suggérer un mécanisme qui explique cette évolution tout en considérant les déterminismes changeants qui délimitent le pensable et le faisable pour chacun. En appliquant la pensée de Judith Butler sur l'importance de la matrice hétérosexuelle, la performativité et l'itération erronée, nous tracerons le développement des trois personnages principaux et la manière dont ce développement fait valoir la théorie de Butler. Ceci nous permettra de mieux comprendre la construction et l'évolution de l'identité de chaque personnage.
