Book Description
This book records the stories of doctoral study experiences of the twenty-two writers. These research degree experiences are embedded in the lives and careers of the writers and the twenty-two distinctive projects draw from those individual lives and careers. The authors write about meeting the continuing demands of older and younger family members and of their struggles with ill health and work place demands while working through their studies. There is also the joy of coming to see themselves and being seen as research scholars and supporting and celebrating with others as they move through candidature proposals and ethics applications to graduation. Apart from the stories that bring the writers to their particular projects and that colour their individual journeys, storying methodology is most often selected for the research, all of which is undertaken within the arts, humanities and education. Phenomenology, narrative, ethnography are central to most of the studies and the detailed accounts of each research topic, methods and outcomes locate each of the research projects in rich bodies of knowledge. Valued writers and readers in these fields, Mary Beattie and Elaine Martin have read each reflection and provided in turn a foreword and an afterword which bookend the volume and further enrich these reflections on learning, life and work.

Book Description
When I started writing my first western I began without a story, a title but with two unwashed characters that hated each other at first in the dark, filthy, cluttered log cabin so remotely embedded in the Canadian snow covered woods that escape on foot was impossible. After two murders occurred our heroine Marie is alone, raised without affection or a smile with only a fur trapper father escaped from prison. She finds herself alone until Peter Mark with a broken leg is fished out of the river with his horse and wagon. After months of fighting and distrust in the filthy hovel, they find love and Peter begins the trek to his home in Nevada in a wagon with Marie. They come to a Nez Perce village where Peter trades with Chief Joseph for three white women and continues south through Flathead land and into Shoshoni Territory where Chief Running Deer learns the buffalo follow Peter and thinks he controls them and calls him the Spirit of The Buffalo. With two scouts from the Nez Perce, two from the Flathead and two from Chief Running Deer they continue south and the scouts leave them at Fort Bryant. Peter thinks hell take Marie to his house but Running Deer decides to burn the fort and sends word to the Spirit of The Buffalo. Take everyone out of the fort and all that ride with you are safe. Col. Williams decides to stay and defend but Peter takes the women and children to Fort Halleck as Running Deer attacks Fort Bryant. Peter and Marie adopt Linda, the youngest of the three captive females they traded for with Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce. Thats not half of the story but youll dry your eyes before turning the last page of the Spirit of The Buffalo and when the sequel, War Chief comes out, youll cry again and better understand our Native American brothers.

Book Description
This book explores the history of invented encounters between Shakespeare and the Queen Elizabeth I, and examines how and why the mythology of these two cultural icons has been intertwined in British and American culture. It follows the history of meetings between the poet and the queen through historical novels, plays, paintings, and films, ranging from works such as Sir Walter Scott's Kenilworth and the film Shakespeare in Love to lesser known examples. Raising questions about the boundaries separating scholarship and fiction, it looks at biographers and critics who continue to delve into links between these two. In the Shakespeare authorship controversy there have even been claims that Shakespeare was Elizabeth's secret son or lover, or that Elizabeth herself was the genius Shakespeare. The author examines the reasons behind the lasting appeal of their combined reputations, and locates this interest in their enigmatic sexual identities, as well as in the ways they represent political tensions and national aspirations.

Book Description
A GYPSY'S KISS is a SILVER MEDAL WINNER in the Readers' Favorite Awards - Supernatural Romance Category An entertaining story of first love that is filled with sufficient mystery and drama to keep you turning the pages. A Gypsy's Kiss is a paranormal story that has its own flavor and characters with great interaction. Breena Cassidy is cursed with what could be one of the worst supernatural abilities imaginable, she has never had the luxury of falling in love. Hell, she’s never even held a guy’s hand. At only twenty-two years old, she’s just about given up on the whole love thing. After all, when you can see twelve hours of someone’s future by a simple touch, and they, in turn, can see what you see, well… relationships are sort of out of the question. Her gigs performing psychic readings at parties, and the occasional one-on-one private appointment are just about Breena’s only connection with people. No matter how much she might wish otherwise. Hawk Covington's hard body and skill have earned him a starting position on the Pioneer’s college hockey team. But it’s not his talent with a hockey stick that’s the most remarkable. His gorgeous two-colored eyes not only draw the attention of every female on campus, they also allow him to track people and objects. But when he suddenly finds himself stalked by a stranger, he seeks out the help of the rumored, “campus gypsy” for help. Despite his vow to stay single and play as many college women as he can while the fun lasts, Hawk can’t ignore his attraction to the lovely and spirited Breena. And she can’t get the hunky star hockey player out of her mind once a single touch of his hand reveals something utterly strange. Surrounded by mystery, they realize that fate has brought them together for a reason, but can they stay alive long enough to recognize the depth of their feelings for one another? ☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Stars "Susan Griscom has created a great supernatural romance in A Gypsy's Kiss. The main characters are well developed, especially Breena as she struggles to cope with her 'gift.' She is resourceful, though, and knows how to handle herself. Hawk is a good match for her and the chemistry between them is great. The plot line for both of them is a novel way to keep the two of them apart and ramp up the tension. I think this book will do very well because it is easy to get into and the characters are relatable. A good start to the series, and I look forward to reading more from this author."
