Book Description
Jimmy Lee Snow, A.K.A. Bobby Williams, is not just your average bank robber and jewelry thief; he is also a highly skilled and somewhat lucky escape artist. As he narrowly frees himself from a maximum-security institution, for a second time, he meets some interesting characters along the way that advertently or inadvertently aid in his freedom. Once on the run, he certainly breaks the law to acquire cash, a car and a new identity. Because he's oddly likable and not really violent, you seem to root for this lawbreaker, despite the fact you know he deserves to be caught and put back into the system. As you read further, you know Jimmy Lee isn't your typical criminal. One of the many characters he encounters along the way is a hooker. Yet the only thing he wants from her is a new identity. This would normally be quite odd coming from a guy who just left prison after ten years! He then picks up two runaways and convinces them to go back home, where he even funds the bus ride. This begins to show Jimmy Lee's odd sense of integrity. (By the way, we soon find out why he was "saving himself.") Part two begins with his true passion; Veronica Lin Brooks, a teacher and soon-to-be partner on the run. the back story is interesting and seemingly unbelievable at times, but the reader can certainly see her attraction to this likable escapee. As the adventure unfolds you find yourself wanting to lecture her and root for them, all at the same time. As the FBI and detectives search for them, you can feel all their desperation and exhaustion. It finally concludes with an unexpected ending, but stranger things have happened.

Richardson Hill
Author: J. Sneed
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 0595401171
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 352
Book Description
Many baby boomers will face the dilemma of inheriting a farm, house, or other family property rich in sentimental value. Unfortunately, in today's market, that inheritance may be a financial liability rather than an asset. The farm near Richardson Hill presents John Sneyde with just such a problem. John has inherited both the 484-acre farm that his mother's family has owned and operated since 1830, and his mother's repertory of family lore-she frequently reminded John of the history and emotional value of the land, and of the various sacrifices the family has made in order to keep it. Unfortunately, John has modern issues to deal with, and running the farm from six hundred miles away is not an easy task. More importantly, the monetary value of the land, when compared to the money generated from the farm, does not warrant keeping it. Torn between loyalty to his family and the demands of his life, John decides to sell the farm. But in the midst of this process, he begins to view the ancestors who first farmed the land in a different light, and realizes that their actions helped make him the man he is today. Richardson Hill is a touching family saga full of warmth and memories, and the story of a man who must make peace with his past before he can move forward with the future.

Book Description
If you're going to shoot Joe Kurtz, you'd better shoot to kill. Ex-PI Joe Kurtz's survival is on the line when an ambush leaves him badly wounded and his parole officer, Peg O'Toole, clinging to life. Their respective professions have ensured that neither suffers from a shortage of enemies, so narrowing down the suspects isn't easy. But Kurtz knows who's at the head of his list: Angelina Farino Ferrara, the lethal beauty who leads the Farino crime family, and her mob rival, Toma Gonzaga. The odd thing is, each would rather hire Joe Kurtz than fire at him. Someone's causing trouble beneath the gray skies of western New York, and it's drawn the notice of the mobs and the cops. Kurtz is caught in the middle along with the rest of them, and no one knows who's tightening the vise.

Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 421

Follow the family as they make their life initially in the lawless and violent mining towns of the New Mexico and Colorado, and then eventually "back east" in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Continue following their saga as writer Thomas Chown beckons back to the tragedies surrounding World War I, and describes this important period in American history with intricate descriptions and entertaining dialogue.
