Book Description
Kenny Sailors was a basketball star, and the inventor of the jump shot. He attended the University of Wyoming and was MVP in 1943 in college AA basketball. After WWII, he spent five years as an early player in the new NBA. As a youngster, Kenny was five‐foot‐seven but his older brother was six‐foot‐two so when playing basketball, Kenny had to jump up over his brother to get off a shot. That is how the jump shot was born, and Kenny used it in college and professional basketball. He played in Denver and several other cities whose team names have now changed, but he also played for the Boston Celtics with Bob Cousy. After he left the NBA, he moved to Alaska and in 1965 settled in the Glennallen area, where he was a fishing and hunting guide in the Wrangle Mountains for thirty‐five years. He now lives in Idaho, and his son lives and flies aircraft from Antioch, California.

Book Description
"It's hard to believe that there was a time when the jump shot didn't exist in basketball. When the sport was invented in 1891, players would take set shots with both feet firmly planted on the ground ... It took almost forty years before players began shooting jump shots of any kind and sixty-five years before it became a common sight. When the first jump shooting pioneers left the ground, they rose not only above their defenders, but also above the sport's conventions. The jump shot created a soaring offense, infectious excitement, loyal fans, and legends ... [This book] celebrates this crucial shot while tracing the history of how it revolutionized the game, shedding light on all corners of the basketball world"--

Book Description
"Have you ever heard of Kenny Sailors?" "Kenny who?" "Didn't the jump shot always exist in basketball?" The short answer is no. In the early 1900s, the sport of basketball was in its infancy. The basic elements of the game included passing the ball, no physical contact, and only two-handed set shots. Times were ripe for improvements and the development of new techniques. A few notable players in the 1930s and 1940s began to jump and shoot a basketball. But it was Kenny Sailors who stepped in and made the modern-day jump shot famous. Beyond the Jump Shot is a story of basketball and life that will elevate and inspire you to believe, and try something different. FROM KENNY'S SON DAN: "With the jump shot, my dad left his mark on basketball. His example in sports and life elevated others to become people of character, integrity, and faith. Pop taught those around him the value of hard work, respect for authority, and doing your best. He cared about his God, family, country, and the Marines. Basketball was a thread that ran through the life of Kenny Sailors. Pop realized there was life after sports and was compelled to encourage others to elevate their lives and dreams."

Book Description
A collection of outrageous stories by the standup comic, TV host, and inspiration for the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no." If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname: "The Machine." He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live. And he wouldn't have been named the Number One Partier in the Nation by Rolling Stone, inspired the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, or performed standup to sellout crowds across the country. The stories Kreischer shares in Life of the Party are a guidebook on how not to grow up. From his fraternity days at Florida State University, to his rise as a standup, to his marriage and first brushes with fatherhood, Kreischer shows you a path that may not lead you to maturity or personal growth. But it will lead you to a shitload of fun.

It all paid off in 1956 when the Pokes played their way into the College World Series. Some great players called Cowboy Field home over the years from Bob Jingling to Art Howe to Greg Brock to Jeff Huson but the proud program was uncer emoniously dropped by the university in 1996. Book Description
1938. Hampstead, London. Sigmund Freud has fled Nazi-occupied Austria and settled in leafy Swiss Cottage. At eighty-two-years-old, he aims to spend his final days in peace. However, when Salvador Dalí turns up to discover a less-than-fully dressed woman in the closet, peace becomes somewhat elusive . . . An acknowledged modern classic, Terry Johnson's hilarious farce explores the fall-out when two of the twentieth century's most brilliant and original minds collide. It touches on many themes including Nazi Germany, the Surrealist movement, Judaism, Freud's theories of the unconscious mind, family relationships, life and death, and love and loss. Johnson's celebrated play raises intriguing questions about Freud's radical revision of his theories of hysteria.
