Zusammenfassung: This proceedings book of ICES 2023 presents the most recent studies on environmental sciences and environmental sustainability, which contributes to the resolution of environmental issues (air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, radioactive pollution, light pollution, and global warming). The discharge of environmental pollutants from industrial, commercial, residential, and sensible locations must be handled with care, since it may harm the air, water, and land if not adequately treated. As a result of the enormous volume of wastewater and environmental pollution generated daily, the majority of designs and developments of wastewater technologies and environmental treatment were unable to handle the load. This is a threat to sustainable growth, and it must be resolved in a precise, dependable, urgent, and timely manner. Sustainable creative and technical transfer approaches that can be utilized for supporting, operationalizing, and providingsustainable wastewater and environmental treatment solutions are of interest to us. The authors hope that the book covers the possible spectrum of wastewater technologies and environmental treatment up to a high level of environmental protection, clean and green management lessons, identify the barriers to transformational change, and then inform the agenda and initiatives for sustainable development. ICES 2023 is devoted to wastewater technology and environmental treatment, with an emphasis on environmental protection at the highest level. ICES 2023 aims to disseminate current knowledge and sustainable development, share experience and lessons gained, and generate conversation and reflection in order to promote a paradigm shift that is sustainable. With the distribution of sustainable wastewater technology and environmental treatment, the ultimate goal is to bring revolutionary change to sustainable development

This book describes the design and realization of analog fractional-order circuits, which are suitable for on-chip implementation, capable of low-voltage operation and electronic adjustment of their characteristics. The authors provide a brief introduction to fractional-order calculus, followed by design issues for fractional-order circuits of various orders and types. The benefits of this approach are demonstrated with current-mode and voltage-mode filter designs. Electronically tunable emulators of fractional-order capacitors and inductors are presented, where the behavior of the corresponding chips fabricated using the AMS 0.35um CMOS process has been experimentally verified. Applications of fractional-order circuits are demonstrated, including a pre-processing stage suitable for the implementation of the Pan-Tompkins algorithm for detecting the QRS complexes of an electrocardiogram (ECG), a fully tunable implementation of the Cole-Cole model used for the modeling of biological tissues, and a simple, non-impedance based measuring technique for super-capacitors.

This volume revisits the book edited by David Phillips and Michael Kaser in 1992, entitled Education and Economic Change in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union (https://doi.org/10.15730/books.42). Two and a half decades later, this volume reflects on how post-socialist countries have engaged with what Phillips & Kaser called ‘the flush of educational freedom’. Spanning diverse geopolitical settings that range from Southeast and Central Europe to the Caucasus and Central Asia, the chapters in this volume offer analyses of education policies and practices that the countries in this region have pursued since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. This book explores three interrelated questions. First, it seeks to capture complex reconfigurations of education purposes during post-socialist transformations, noting the emergence of neoliberal education imaginaries in post-socialist spaces and their effects on policy discussions about education quality and equity across the region. Second, it examines the ongoing tensions inherent in post-socialist transformations, suggesting that beneath the surface of dominant neoliberal narratives there are always powerful countercurrents – ranging from the persisting socialist legacies to other alternative conceptualizations of education futures – highlighting the diverse trajectories of post-socialist education transformations. And finally, the book engages with the question of ‘comparison’, prompting both the contributing authors and readers to reflect on how research on post-socialist education transformations can contribute to rethinking comparative methods in education across space and time.
