Book Description
Jersey Shore Poets is a poetry writing group that meets once a month at the Eatontown Public Library. It is now in its seventh year. The purpose of the group is to provide a supportive environment for local working poets in the Monmouth County, New Jersey to write, revise and critique their writing as well as to provide information, feedback and support to hone their craft and to seek various opportunities for public reading and publishing. The group also encourages and promotes the writing and appreciation of poetry through various local readings and instructional events. This year, for the first time, JSP has published an anthology, Jersey Shore Poets/First Edition. By the title of this anthology, you might think that this is a collection of writing about the Jersey shore, but it is oh so much more than that! It includes not only of the written work of its twelve members, but the work of over thirty five nationally renowned poets and writers, a group that includes two US Poet Laureates as well as three Pulitzer Prize winners.

Book Description
A book of poetry for people who never dreamed they could like poetry! Published to great acclaim from both readers and reviewers, Under a Gull's Wing is the first contemporary collection of poems and photographs about the Jersey Shore. The anthology covers quintessential shore subjects from boardwalks to beaches; love and loss; legends, lore and famous landmarks. Under a Gull's Wing takes readers on an evocative trip from the tip of Sandy Hook to Victorian Cape May. The contributors include some of the nation's best known poets -- Walt Whitman, John Ciardi, Robert Pinsky, A. R. Ammens and Maxine Kumin, among others. A mix of celebration, lament and history, Under a Gull's Wing presents all of the Shore: the natural beauty of Island Beach and the Forsythe Refuge, familiar and timeless beach towns and the faded glory of Asbury Park and Atlantic City. Quirky history such as Lucy the Margate Elephant and the High-Diving Horse of Atlantic City's old Steel Pier are also remembered. This attractive hardcover includes more than two dozen artistic photographs by some of the state's best photographers. The Jersey Shore has inspired some of the nation's best poets; this book is a worthy tribute to the artists and to their subject.

Book Description
The Poets of New Jersey celebrates sixty-five extraordinary poets who have lived and worked in New Jersey, from Colonial times to the present. Many of the poets included in this anthology are among America's finest. Stephen Dunn, the Pulitzer Prize poet, writes the Foreword; X. J. Kennedy, the renowned poet, (whose comprehensive text, Literature: An Introduction to Fiction, Poetry and Drama, has taught generations of college students), writes the Introduction. The three editors, all poets themselves, had one simple criterion in compiling the works: they wanted to hear the pure, clear words of the poets who have called this place home. They were interested in the sum of poetic greatness distilled from life in this state?the poetry New Jersey poets have written, whether New Jersey oriented or not. Included: Philip Freneau, Walt Whitman, Stephen Crane, William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, Kenneth Burke, Allen Ginsberg, Amiri Baraka, Yusef Komunyakaa, C. K. Williams, Paul Muldoon

Book Description
This little book is my personal poetic reflection of the 'best place on earth' or Paradise as I call it in my book subtitle. It is your 'midsummer dream' comes true when you visit it at that time There are many places along Atlantic coast of New Jersey but this one is special. It has even a nickname 'God's Square Mile' that stands out. I hope you will fall in love with this place like I did and pledge to visit it at least once to feel and to understand why I got so inspired that I wrote my book.

Book Description
Poetry. "Set along the Jersey shore, before and after Hurricane Sandy, these narratives vividly capture the lives and speech of Jersey denizens like Mercy, a young waitresses, and Tino, a boardwalk musician. Piers, racetracks, and bars endure natural disasters. Mercy, too, endures. McCullough's craft is striking. Her portraits are empathic, alive. The lines are drenched with music. Words surge, crash precisely on the page. JERSEY MERCY is a gorgeous interrogation of language and landscape." Eduardo C. Corral"
