Gems are something most people consider to be precious. In each poem there can be found certain gems that I consider very precious, and I want to share a few of them with many others. I hope as you read these poems, you will discover the hidden treasures in each one. And if you hadnt already discovered, the most precious Treasure (its Gods Son), I hope you will do so, before the day is done.

The Evil Twins of American Television
Author: Kristi Rowan Humphreys
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 149858330X
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 139
Book Description
The Evil Twins of American Television examines evil-twin depictions in over fifty years of television, comparing male twins to female twins and male-writer depictions to female-writer depictions. Kristi Rowan Humphreys evaluates The Patty Duke Show, Bewitched, Gilligan’s Island, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Brady Bunch, among other television programs that use the twinning trope to explore themes of feminism and identity. Employing traits identified by Betty Friedan in The Feminine Mystique as belonging to the “evil” side of her “schizophrenic split” theory, Humphreys analyzes the ways in which these alter ego characters embody the desire for a separate self and independence through loose inhibitions, career interests, political interests, intellectual prowess, and assertiveness. This book then compares female-written twin episodes to male-written twin episodes, finding that when “evil twin” episodes are written by women writers, the twins are presented less as oppositional binaries and more as compatible, often symbiotic binaries. Thus, the women writers of these shows offer a compelling response to Friedan’s text, one that acknowledges and underscores the many complexities of women—the image of which cannot in reality be so easily split into two oppositional binaries. Humphreys then connects 1960s depictions to more current evil-twin examples, including those in Friends, Knight Rider, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

From Pre-Tribulation to Mid-Tribulation, and to Post Tribulation, are these ideas all right, or are they all wrong? Are there any other view points, and are they correct? In this Bible study, different view points will be looked at, but mostly scripture will be used. This is, after all, a Bible study. There will be definitions of words, in the Hebrew and Greek, and comparisons of some timelines. There will be some history and, of course, there will be future events unveiled. We will take a journey from what once was sealed, to what is now revealed, and it may surprise you what we discover.

Book Description
Trouble isn’t something the art ladies set out looking for, but sometimes it finds them anyway. Life happens and this merry band of artists from the small town of Calhoun, including Stubby who is the former governor of Texas, face problems and misfortunes head-on. The daughter-in-law of one of the women deserts her family for reasons unknown in the beginning. This leaves art lady Shannon and the others in the group to pick up the pieces and help her eight-year-old twin grandchildren get on with life. The women are so committed to restoring happiness to these broken hearts that they participate in a mother-child softball game. Competing against mothers half their age, along with trying to corral a mischievous group of third graders, involves heart-warming and hilarious situations all at the same time. While this is going on, find out what Stubby, owner of the two-cow ranch, does to upset the apple cart by surprising the women and others in the community with a totally new endeavor that comes completely out of left field. Meanwhile, the missing daughter-in-law spins her own web of confusion and mystery that ties together the insecurities and formerly dead-end life of Lila, the homeless young mother introduced in It’s a New Day. The attitudes of forgiveness, understanding, humor, and second chances are all brought to life in Don’t Look Back. Members of the art group make choices on how to live life as they embark on the vacation of a lifetime and the issues they leave behind. These women will make you laugh, cry, and, more than anything, cause you to search yourself for what values you deem most important.

What America Watched
Author: Marsha Ann Tate
Publisher: McFarland
ISBN: 1476680574
Category : Performing Arts
Languages : en
Pages : 374
Book Description
Although television critics have often differed with the public with respect to the artistic and cultural merits of television programming, over the last half-century television has indubitably influenced popular culture and vice versa. No matter what reasons are cited--the characters, the actors, the plots, the music--television shows that were beloved by audiences in their time remain fondly remembered. This study covers the classic period of popular television shows from the 1960s through the 1990s, focusing on how regular viewers interacted with television shows on a personal level. Bridging popular and scholarly approaches, this book discovers what America actually watched and why through documents, footage, visits to filming locations, newspapers, and magazine articles from the shows' eras. The book features extensive notes and bibliography.
