The third part gives a brief history of the Altaic theory. The subsequent portions of the book deal with problems of mutual influences of the Altaic languages (e.g., the Turkic influence of Mongolian), Altaic influences in non-Altaic languages (e.g., the Turkic influence on Sayan-Samoyed, or Mari), non-Altaic influences in Altaic languages (e.g. Sogdian elements in Turkic), and structural features common to all Altaic languages.
