Book Description
The main purpose of this book is to provide the reader with a better understanding of spinal nerve root injuries caused by various pathologies (e.g. disc herniation, space-occupying lesions, trauma etc.). The standard anatomical description of spinal nerve roots origin, course and arrangement (described in the first chapters of the book) is now strongly influenced by the frequent findings of their intraspinal extradural and intradural connecting branches and by other variations, which are considered to be the major cause of the surgical therapy failures. Intraspinal extradural and intradural neuroanatomical roots variations may affect in fact the clinical picture, diagnosis, and surgical treatment; their recognition can minimize the damage to neural structures in the spinal anaesthesia, in spinal operations, in spondylosurgery, in endoscopic surgery, laser discectomy, etc. Their aetiology is unknown and it has to be elucidated, and they are rarely found during the usual preoperational examinations, a reason that encouraged various anatomical dissection studies finalized to their description. The data shown in this book will be surely helpful for traumatologists, orthopaedists, spinal surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons and for all those dealing with intraspinal variations of nerve roots.

Book Description
This book is a comprehensive illustrated surgical guide to operative exposures of the spinal nerves, also known as peripheral nerves. Each chapter is devoted to a particular nerve and describes the origin, anatomic relations, branches, surgical approaches, and clinical significance. The text is concise and easy to read and is complemented by informative color photos from cadaveric dissections and surgical procedures. A separate chapter on technical notes identifies surgical pearls relating to techniques such as nerve suturing and nerve transfers. Importantly, unlike other peripheral nerve atlases, this book is accompanied by videos of different approaches. The book will be especially valuable for residents and fellows in training and candidates for oral board and MOC examinations. It is also designed to provide a quick illustrated review for surgeons unfamiliar with a procedure. Most videos are less than 5 minutes long, and it should take less than 10 minutes to review each approach, including watching the video. Anatomy and Exposures of Spinal Nerves will effectively fill a gap caused by the absence of a peripheral nerve surgeon from many neurosurgery training programs.

Trauma: A Comprehensive Emergency Medicine Approach is a fully illustrated, interdisciplinary overview of trauma. Using both evidence-based approaches and a practical understanding of the emergency department, it gives a broad and in-depth review of trauma care. The entire spectrum of trauma presentations is reviewed from minor soft-tissue injuries through to major life-threatening conditions. Written by over 50 expert contributors, it gives concrete and practical recommendations for evaluation, treatment, consultation and disposition decisions on both common and unusual conditions. Extensive use of photographs, illustrations and key information boxes is used to make the material accessible. Additional sections provide an overview of multiple other issues relating to emergency management of trauma including administrative, nursing, research and legal matters. This book provides an essential reference for anyone who is called upon to provide acute trauma care in the emergency department.

Book Description
A general consensus exists, that lumbosacral nerve root compression is the primary cause of sciatica and neurogenic claudication, although humoral and vascular factors certainly play a role as well. This book focuses on imaging the various ways in which nerve root compression can come about, and determining which anatomic features are reliably associated with the production of radicular pain. After a discussion of the nature of radicular pain and related symptoms, spinal imaging techniques and options are reviewed, with emphasis on the role of MR myelography in assessing the intradural nerve roots. A chapter on normal topographic, sectional, and functional radiologic anatomy is followed by presentations on pathologic anatomy, addressing mechanisms of nerve root compression, and on pre- and postoperative imaging. Features relevant to prediction of the natural history are discussed, and a section is devoted to the performance and reporting of a spinal imaging study.

Book Description
Here is the first book in 30 years to cover all diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of intramedullary spinal cord tumors (IMTs), a relatively rare but often misdiagnosed type of tumor. You will benefit from the largest personal collection of operated cases (171) ever assembled, as well as a review of 1,100 additional cases, making this the single most comprehensive book on IMTs available today. You will also appreciate the vital role of MRI in accurately diagnosing these tumors and review the latest technical refinements in surgical methods. Divided into three parts, the book begins with the diagnostic and therapeutic problems common to all intramedullary spinal cord tumors, then covers the histology of individual tumors, and finally examines the controversial value of radiotherapy in the treatment of both benign and malignant tumors in children and adults. Throughout, full-color illustrations depict anatomy from a surgical point of view.

Book Description
The practice of diagnostic radiology has become increasingly complex, with the use of numerous imaging modalities and division into many subspecialty areas. It is becoming ever more difficult for subspecialist radiologists, general radiologists, and residents to keep up with the advances that are occurring year on year, and this is particularly true for less familiar topics. Failure to appreciate imaging pitfalls often leads to diagnostic error and misinterpretation, and potential medicolegal problems. This textbook, written by experts from reputable centers across the world, systematically and comprehensively highlights the pitfalls that may occur in diagnostic radiology. Both pitfalls specific to different modalities and techniques and those specific to particular organ systems are described with the help of numerous high-quality illustrations. Recognition of these pitfalls is crucial in helping the practicing radiologist to achieve a more accurate diagnosis.
