Book Description
The study of Asia was introduced into the curriculum of The University of Auckland nearly fifty years ago. Why was it done? How was it done? This book describes the objectives, achievements and endeavours to place them in a largercontext. The importance of the issues raised indeed extends well beyond the university world. During this period New Zealand¿s relationship with Asia has been transformed, but the interest in studying it has not expanded to the same extent. What is now the way forward? This book has been written in the belief that knowing more about the past may help in influencing the future. Nicholas Tarling was a professor in European and Asian history at the University of Auckland, a position he held until he retired in 1996. For much of the time he was also Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Chairman of the Deans Committee, and Assistant or Deputy Vice-Chancellor. He also served on a number of inter-university and government committees. He was the founder and president of the New Zealand Asian Studies Society and also had two terms as President of theAssociation of University Teachers of New Zealand. In retirement he has been a Fellow of the New Zealand Asia Institute and served for a while as Director of the Institute and later of the International Office. He was also a visiting Professor at UBD and honorary professor at University of Hull.

Book Description
This book is written in the form of a devotional. It consists of my minisermons as posted daily on social media. It addresses the tussles we encounter daily. It is good for spiritual maturity, relationships, and wisdom. A devotional journal, compared to a memoir, should have some uplifting qualities and should be inspiring and illuminating. Thats what this book is intended to accomplish. This book will help you discover your purpose for living and hence your divine destiny. What you believe about God defines your life. Losing sight of God causes us to lose who we are really are. The Word is a prism through which we filter our changing self-image. Gods primary goal is to change us so that we can see as He sees. Christ Himself became wisdom from God to us in order for us (the church) to display the multifarious wisdom of God to the whole universe. God may not fix everything broken in your life now, but He is willing to renew your thinking so that you are able to think as He would have you think, desire what He says is best, and do what He calls you to do. This book could be a viable clutch missing at your fingertips, greatly needed in a culture in which post-truth is the word of the yearI mean todays culture where people are economical with the truth, where people sweeten it or tell the truth improved.

Book Description
As Asia increases in economic and geopolitical significance, it is necessary to better understand the region’s intelligence cultures. The Handbook of Asian Intelligence Cultures explores the historical and contemporary influences that have shaped Asian intelligence cultures as well as the impact intelligence service have had on domestic and foreign affairs. In examining thirty Asian countries, it considers the roles, practices, norms and oversight of Asia’s intelligence services, including the ends to which intelligence tools are applied. The book argues that there is no archetype of Asian intelligence culture due to the diversity of history, government type and society found in Asia. Rather, it demonstrates how Asian nations’ histories, cultures and governments play vital roles in intelligence cultures. This book is a valuable study for scholars of intelligence and security services in Asia, shedding light on understudied countries and identifying opportunities for future scholarship.
