Book Description
This book summarizes the imaging characteristics and theory of CNS infections, serving as a clinical guidance and having a practical significance for the understanding, prevention and diagnosis of infectious neurology. It includes extensive CT, MRI images on gross anatomy, pathological tissue, immunohistochemistry, electronic speculum, etc. It is divided into 19 chapters according to infectious types. On the basis of imaging diagnosis, through the cross research of imaging with autopsy and pathology, the imaging characteristics and evolution was revealed. This book will be a valuable reference on the clinical practice and research of neuroinfections.

Book Description
Central nervous system (CNS) infections continue to pose a serious problem in health care even with improved knowledge and treatment. Despite the introduction of newer antimicrobial agents and diagnostic techniques, the morbidity and mortality associated with CNS infections remain high. The morbidity associated with CNS infections may be even more important than the death rate especially in developing countries as neurological sequelae may deprive the survivors of intellect and physical ability, demeaning the quality of life and burdening health resources and social services. MR imaging is an important integral part of the protocol for the management of CNS infections and MR spectroscopy is increasingly being utilized in its management. This work is an attempt to provide a comprehensive review of imaging and spectroscopy of the commonly encountered CNS infections in the clinical practice in developing and developed countries. The first chapter deals with basic physical principles of MR imaging and spectroscopy that will help beginners to understand the technical terms used in subsequent chapters. The remaining 10 chapters deal with clinical, pathological, MR imaging and spectroscopy features and their applications in CNS infections. This will help in giving a comprehensive understanding to readers with a background in clinical, radiological, basic MRI, and neurological sciences. The T2 hypointense lesions are a real diagnostic dilemma especially in developing countries for which an algorithm has been suggested in the concluding chapter.

Book Description
This title has been developed with the International Child Neurology Association to provide information on all common CNS infections. It covers almost all CNS infections commonly seen in children across the world including those in developed and resource poor countries. It provides concise, state of the art overview of viral, bacterial, tubercular, fungal, parasitic and many other infections of the CNS. In addition involvement of the CNS secondary to other infections or vaccines has also been briefly covered. A chapter on Principles of Management of CNS Infections provides a practical and pragmatic approach to management of CNS infections in general. A chapter on ‘Neuroimaging of CNS Infections’ and ‘A brief account of Febrile Seizures in Children’ is included. The book is intended to be of practical use to residents, physicians, paediatricians and paediatric neurologists across the globe. It should be particularly helpful in providing important information in an easily accessible and comprehensive format, with supporting references.

Book Description
In this issue of Neuroimaging Clinics, guest editor Dr. Tchoyoson Lim Choie Cheio brings his considerable expertise to the topic of Central Nervous System Infections. Infections can involve any part of the CNS and often, multiple parts of the CNS are involved at the same time. The imaging surrounding them is constantly evolving, and in this issue, key international experts provide a thorough update of the imaging of these common and pervasive infections. Contains 13 practice-oriented topics including emerging public health, multidisciplinary teams and pitfalls in CNS infection imaging; acute neurological complications of COVID-19; subacute to chronic neuroimaging findings in SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 infection; imaging of opportunistic infections and HIV/AIDS; imaging of head and neck infections; and more. Provides in-depth clinical reviews on central nervous system infections, offering actionable insights for clinical practice. Presents the latest information on this timely, focused topic under the leadership of experienced editors in the field. Authors synthesize and distill the latest research and practice guidelines to create clinically significant, topic-based reviews.
