Book Description
These books have been written for the reader's enjoyment by the poet and writer Edward David. The poetry books have been written in the traditional style in metrical form and rhyme. Edward David is an eighty-one year old man and has done many things in his lifetime. He grew up in the small historical Town of North Tarrytown on the Hudson River in New York State. At age six he wrote his first poem. At age seven his curiosity got the better of him. After school, he decided to see what was up to the road. He walked from North Tarrytown to Yonkers a distance of ten miles. After he had walked to Yonkers, he started to feel hungry and decided that it was time to turn around and go back. He took a wrong turn and lost his way and ended up in a housing development. Well, he thought he had better knock on some one's door and get directions to North Tarrytown. So he knocked on the door of the house closest to him. A young lady came to the door and he asked her which way was North Tarrytown. She promptly snatched him taking him inside and locking the front door then called the police. Soon two local policemen came. They questioned him and decided that he was the lost boy that earlier they had a missing report on. The two policemen put him in the back seat then drove to an ice cream parlor and bought him an ice cream cone. They drove to the town's border and radioed ahead to the police from the next town. When they arrived at the next town, they transferred him to their police car and drove him to the next town transferring him to that town's police car. That was the way it went until he arrived home.

Searching for God Knows What
Author: Don Miller
Publisher: HarperChristian + ORM
ISBN: 1418529958
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257
Book Description
With equal parts wit and wisdom, New York Times bestselling author Donald Miller invites you to reconnect with your faith. Miller shares what he's learned firsthand--that our relationship with God is designed to teach us about redemption, grace, healing, and so much more. Searching for God Knows What weaves together timeless stories and fresh perspectives on the Bible to capture one man's journey to discover an authentic faith that's worth believing. Along the way, Miller poses his own questions about faith, religion, and community, asking: What if the motive behind our theology was relational? What if our value exists because God takes pleasure in us? What if the gospel of Jesus is an invitation to know God? Maybe you're a Christian wondering what faith you signed up for. Or maybe you don't believe anything and are daring someone to show you a genuine example of genuine faith. Somewhere beyond the self-help formulas, fancy marketing, and easy promises, there is a life-changing experience with God waiting for you--it just takes a little bit of searching. Praise for Searching for God Knows What: "Like a shaken snow globe, Donald Miller's newest collection of essays creates a swirl of ideas about the Christian life that eventually crystallize into a lovely landscape...[He] is one of the evangelical book market's most creative writers." --Christianity Today "If you have felt that Jesus is someone you respect and admire--but Christianity is something that repels you--Searching for God Knows What will give you hope that you still can follow Jesus and be part of a church without the trappings of organized religion." --Dan Kimball, author of The Emerging Church and Pastor of Vintage Faith Church, Santa Cruz, CA "For fans of Blue Like Jazz, I doubt you will be disappointed. Donald Miller writes with the wit and vulnerability that you expect. He perfectly illustrates important themes in a genuine and humorous manner...For those who would be reading Miller for the first time, this would be a great start." --Relevant

Whisper: Finding God in the Everyday is an invitation to be everyday mystics, finding extraordinary encounters with God in our ordinary days. If we will be attentive, there is space for grace to speak to our hearts, leading us closer to our Lord, even as we care for the many needs we encounter in the vocation of marriage and family life.” –Kimberly Hahn, wife, mother, author of Chosen and Cherished: Biblical Wisdom for Your Marriage “She had me at the title, but throughout Danielle’s book Whisper, I found God in baseball, broken pieces, and in ‘not overthinking it.’ This book is beautiful and intimate, itself a whisper from God.” –Sonja Corbitt, creator of LOVE the Word®️ Bible study method “Danielle’s encouragement and practical advice to simply rest and be still was exactly what I needed to read as a young mom who is a recovering busy perfectionist—and the words we all need to hear in a world that emphasizes doing instead of simply being. If you’re exhausted and looking for rest, this book is for you!” –Chloe Langr, author of Letters to Women: Embracing the Feminine Genius in Everyday Life

Looking For God
Author: Vivan Passion Wardell
Publisher: Dorrance Publishing
ISBN: 1480997978
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 50
Book Description
These poems are a reflection of author Vivan Passion Wardell’s journey in life. This collection of spiritual lyrics highlights the past and ongoing challenges she faces as a God-fearing African American woman in a society where God is not always accepted. In other words, her poetry illustrations the tension between the morality imposed by man and commitment to her Heavenly Father. As Vivan continues her journey, these poems are conversations with her Heavenly Father as He guides her back into His arms, under the cover of the Holy Trinity. In Looking for God, Vivan is searching and praying to find God: as opaque visions flood her mind, a paradigm of her life, suspended in time, she stops spinning and she finds God: deep within her heart, soul, and mind.
