Book Description
Although most people have some knowledge of the essential structure of the Solar System, few are familiar with the large and varied array of objects that travel with and between the planets in their journeys around the Sun. Imaging techniques from Earth continue to improve, while missions such as Voyager, Galileo and the Hubble Space Telescope have yielded many excellent images. Most significantly of all, several missions in recent years have shown a huge diversity of objects in close-up for the first time. The book will take advantage of the rich pool of images that is available, to tell a story of the Solar System that has not been told before. Smaller Bodies will be a collection of approximately 72 stunning images, all from the public domain but not hitherto gathered into a coherent collection, with supporting text and graphics. Each main image will be accompanied by a graphic showing the location in the Solar System of the featured object. All of these graphics will be based in a simple template providing a simple representation of the Solar System. Text will not be extensive, allowing page design to have a high priority, and will be of three kinds. ‘Main text’ (approximately 200 words) will provide stimulating introduction and some key ideas. Text headed ‘The object(s)’ (25-75 words) will provide a brief description of featured objects. Text headed ‘The image’ (25-75 words) will provide information on the source of the image and some brief technical information where required (such as in describing use of false color). The book is intended for anybody who lives in solar orbit and takes a general interest in the solar neighborhood.

Book Description
From Katherine Schwarzenegger comes ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT, a hip, empowering, get-real guide to loving the body you're in. For young women today, developing a healthy body image can be a challenge. Yet Katherine Schwarzenegger has done just that. She has been there . . . and back, and has come not only to accept but to love her curvy, powerful, smart, sexy, and happy self. She wants to help other girls do the same-recognize their own beauty, both inside and out. An estimated 8 million Americans have an eating disorder. Seven million of those are young women, and more and more of them are girls. Girls are increasingly growing dissatisfied with their bodies, trying to change them and fit into some image or mold of perfection that is impossible to achieve. Where are they getting this from? The answer is clear: their moms, sisters, friends, frenemies, television, movies, magazines, and every other media outlet imaginable. When you open a magazine or watch a movie, what kind of girls do you see? Skinny ones! Impossibly perfect girls with immaculate bodies. Everywhere they look, girls are inundated with carefully airbrushed, highly inaccurate images of the female body. It's no wonder they feel something's wrong with them! In this down-to-earth, reassuring, and fun book, Katherine calls for a new way of seeing what is beautiful. Packed with informative facts, moving personal anecdotes from Katherine's life, and the voices of other Rock What You've Got women, her book celebrates the female form, whatever the size, and inspires girls to ROCK WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

Book Description
One man's quiet life is shattered when he's forced to confront terrifying secrets he'd thought buried high in the Italian Alps The New York Times has called his work "daring and remarkably assured," The Washington Post has dubbed it "shamelessly entertaining," and the Los Angeles Times claims it renders "the raw elegence of the human experience itself." Now Paul Watkins returns with his most engaging and atmospheric novel yet. The ice soldier of the title is one William Bromley. Following a disasterous turn in the Alps during the Second World War, William has constructed for himself a quiet and lonely life as a history teacher at a London boarding school. For different reasons, he and his best friend Stanley have given up the world of mountaineering for a more peaceful existence. Peaceful that is, until a soldier from William's mountain regiment reappears, tragedy occurs, and a terrible bargain is made. Slowly, the horrifying events of the war come back to William, and he realizes what he must do. He is to confront his worst fears and memories by returning to the glaciers and peaks of northern Italy. The little-known role of the army's mountaineer corps comes brilliantly to life in this story of men pushed to the limits of endurance and survival, and haunted by the ghosts of war. "Paul Watkins is without question one of the most gifted writers of his generation." —Tobias Wolff
