Book Description
Don "The Snake" Prudhomme reveals for the first time ever his incredible life and career on and off of the drag strip.
Imagine spending a year with Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, having coffee together and talking about his life, his racing, his friends, and his family. He’d tell you about how he rose from being a high school drop-out who was painting cars to a respected Top Fuel dragster driver and successful businessman. You’d hear how he toured the country with Tommy Ivo and "The Hawaiian" Roland Leong, racing all the legends from "Big Daddy" Don Garlits to "The Golden Greek" [Chris] Karamesines. He'd say how he met Tom McEwen and recall how they became the Snake and the Mongoose, leading to a career in Funny Cars that netted him four championships in a row. He'd talk about the thrill of first wins and owning his own teams but also the struggles of bad seasons, crashes and fires, broken parts, and broken contracts. Along the way, he’d speak about the people in his life, such as engine-builder Keith Black and NHRA president Wally Parks, and those who were killed in the wild and unpredictable sport of nitro racing. It wouldn’t be only racing, though. Prudhomme would share lessons he learned about business and life from such varied sources as a neighbor in Granada Hills to Ford GT40 driver Dan Gurney. He also would talk about the importance of family: how his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Donna, changed his world and how finding out about his African-American roots opened his eyes to a culture and inheritance he’d always wanted. This is the experience you’ll get in Don "The Snake" Prudhomme: My Life Beyond the 1320.

Book Description
There were black bulb-looking plungers, brown bowl-shaped plungers, yellow elliptical-shaped ones, some with short handles and some with longer handles, some rubber, some plastic. Wow, do they have any with a graphite shaft? Any treated lumber handles?? Hmmmm, I wonder which one of these will work the best on my toilet? Must I take a clay imprint of the commode bottom? Now I was confused unsure if any particular style would fit better, or create more suction and push versus another. As I stood there studying the design of each one I thought how great it would be if I could try them out. You know, kind of like kicking the tires on a car before you buy it. Doubt I could test one and return it, just didnt seem like I should ask. So instead upon impulse I took won of the basic models and jabbed it at my feet onto the floor. Yep, it stuck, pretty dang good, this one could work. As I tugged on the plungers handle I noticed the rough floor and thought to myself, they need to finish repairing these vinyl tiles pretty soon. It was at this point that I hear someone from several aisles over yell across the store, NO, wait!!

Book Description
On the day she was born in 1950 as one of two identical twins, Patty O’Leary Emry’s formidable challenges were only just beginning. The exhilaration of welcoming new life quickly gave way to desperation as doctors discovered that Patty had multiple congenital difficulties. With underdeveloped digestive, urinary tract, and reproductive systems, the prognosis was grim. When the hospital staff declared that the baby would die within a few days, her steadfast parents refused to give up hope, and they firmly insisted that Patty be given a fighting chance—after all, she deserved every chance at life. After ground breaking operations, doctors were able to reconstruct the tiny infant’s digestive organs. It was a miracle that this premature baby survived such procedures, and before long, Patty’s tenacious spirit quickened and flourished. But tragedy struck the family again when, Patty’s twin sister, Catherine, died only three months after being born. Despite the pain of becoming a “twinless twin” and in the face of daily difficulties that many could consider discouraging, Patty rallied and cultivated a robust and outrageous approach to life that has seen her through over twenty-two surgeries in her lifetime. You, the reader, can also lay hold of the transformative power of laughter and positivity in every circumstance. So whether you’re sixteen or ninety-nine, throw off those shackles of self-doubt and despair, put on your dancing shoes, and do the funky chicken on the nearest tabletop—because It Takes a Sense of Humour!

Book Description
Wind and Tide is a book about sailing. It is perhaps the only book published in recent years that has dealt with sailing—and pure, engineless sailing craft—in such a effective manner. Not an acedemic exercise or a mere exhibition of traditionalism—Wind and Tide describes in practical, useful detail the techniques and attitude involved in sailing without engine assist.
