Book Description
Most of us long to be in control—of our schedule, our relationships, and our future. Newlywed Laura Story thought she had control over the great life ahead of her. After all, she followed Jesus and had a promising new job as a worship leader. Why would God not want to fulfill her dreams? But when Laura and her husband, Martin, faced a brain tumor, infertility, and a son’s birth defect, she realized she’d been looking for a happiness that comes from circumstances, rather than a deeper joy that comes from God. Again and again, Laura had to surrender her vision for her life so she could embrace God’s vision. And again and again she learned that even in the midst of shattered dreams, God’s plan brought greater joy than she could have imagined. Now the Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter known for such hits as “Blessings,” “Indescribable,” and “Mighty to Save” shares her powerful story of finding blessing in her deepest pain. In, I Give Up, Laura explores: How to delight in God’s gifts no matter your circumstances. Why waiting on God is a daily decision, not a step-by-step process. The strength we find from meditating on God’s Word. Why surrendering to God leads to reconciliation with others. How the things we consider to be losses are ways for God to display his glory. As Laura writes, she no longer wants to be in control of her life. She wants to be rooted in the God who is in control. I Give Up will help you Discover a deeper life of worship, a fuller life of joy, and a freer life of true surrender as you open your hands to God. And give up.

Book Description
Michael Bonner knew he wanted to be a teacher after his favorite college professor, Dr. Poulson, inspired him. The professor’s passion and love for teaching prompted Michael to change his major and his life’s direction. But nothing prepared Michael for the reality of a Title One school. Teaching is fun until a 7-year-old is assaulting you or you’re dodging furniture being thrown at you. When you mix the craziness of a classroom with a marriage that was about to implode, anyone might want to quit. Smiling on the outside while feeling dead on the inside took this dedicated teacher to the breaking point. Michael knew he must change what was inside him, in his approach to life, or nothing would change anywhere else. So Michael took matters into his own hands to make four key paradigm shifts that helped him create a world of successful learning for his students and love within both the classroom and beyond. The result has been a transformation that’s taken Michael far beyond the classroom as he inspires thousands across the country. Many agree teaching is an amazing profession but there’s little discussion why so many teachers are leaving the profession. Get Up or Give Up: How I Almost Gave Up on Teaching shines a light into the internal battles and decisions educators face daily, and how we must make a conscious decision either to give in—or push through.

Book Description
This poetry book is a huge collaboration and a living work with incredible women from all over the world meant to encourage and inspire anyone who reads it- to just- NOT GIVE UP. For this women empowerment project, I reached out to women who I thought were inspiring and asked them to submit a photo of themselves and a story about something traumatic they have overcome in their lifetime. I used their photo for the book and I turned their story into the inspiration behind the poem written next to their photo. I hope that with each poem I can inspire the women they are written for, and so many more women who might be going through something similar. You see, I always felt like I was a victim growing up. I had a really hard childhood and I had to learn to grow up early. My mother abandoned us, my father did his best but lived pay check to pay check and I just always felt so sorry for myself. One day my Bub (grandmother), sat me down and explained to me that everyone has their own story. She really broke it down to me and told me that everyone has things that they go through and grow through in their lives in order to become the person that they are meant to be. She taught me empathy. To instill it, she decided to take me to the library to read some really inspiring stories so that I didn't feel so alone. The first book I took out was a book about the life of Maya Angelou. Her story inspired me to start writing and truly helped me to become the strong person I am today. Quotes, poetry, and lyrics have always carried me through my darkest days and I do hope that with this book, we can inspire you to become a survivor instead of a victim like my Grandmother and Maya Angelou did for me. Visit us online at GirlDontGiveUp.com to submit a photo of yourself and your story to be featured in an upcoming edition of this living work.
