During the Suggestopedic teaching, there is simultaneous activation of the left and right hemispheres of the brain, although in different degrees. Students fell and report pleasant learning while they develop creative memory through logical-emotional and conscious-paraconscious activities in class The author of the textbook, Prof. Paulo Negrete, aka "Teacher John Chapman", has been trained and certified by Dr. Lozanov, the creator of Suggestopedia and the science of Suggestology, and has worked in the field of English teaching through Suggestopedia for many years. Book Description
Drawing from almost a decade of ethnographic research in largely Brazilian and Puerto Rican neighborhoods in Newark, New Jersey, Ana Y. Ramos-Zayas, in Street Therapists, examines how affect, emotion, and sentiment serve as waypoints for the navigation of interracial relationships among US-born Latinos, Latin American migrants, blacks, and white ethnics. Tackling a rarely studied dynamic approach to affect, Ramos-Zayas offers a thorough—and sometimes paradoxical—new articulation of race, space, and neoliberalism in US urban communities. After looking at the historical, political, and economic contexts in which an intensified connection between affect and race has emerged in Newark, New Jersey, Street Therapists engages in detailed examinations of various community sites—including high schools, workplaces, beauty salons, and funeral homes, among others—and secondary sites in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and San Juan to uncover the ways US-born Latinos and Latin American migrants interpret and analyze everyday racial encounters through a language of psychology and emotions. As Ramos-Zayas notes, this emotive approach to race resurrects Latin American and Caribbean ideologies of “racial democracy” in an urban US context—and often leads to new psychological stereotypes and forms of social exclusion. Extensively researched and thoughtfully argued, Street Therapists theorizes the conflictive connection between race, affect, and urban neoliberalism.

Book Description
Widening access to higher education has been a political issue in Brazil for a long time, but only in the early 2000s was the education system changed radically. Affirmative action policies were combined with the expansion of the network of federal universities and new funding programmes for higher education. This created a generation of people who are the first within their families to go to university. This book portrays the life stories of mothers who are paid domestic workers in Brazil, and their daughters who belong to the first generation to obtain a higher education degree. The author investigates experiences of social mobility of the first-generation university entrants in contemporary Brazil from a novel perspective – the family dynamics between mothers and daughters. The book introduces the concept of intertwined memories to show how the mechanism of transmission of memories between mothers and daughters drove these women to a relationship of mutual support. This transformed trauma into empowerment, breaking vicious cycles of inequalities and poor mental health among these women.

Book Description
This collection presents six essays by one of France's most remarkable contemporary authors. A notoriously playful stylist, here Hélène Cixous explores how the problematics of the sexes--viewed as a paradigm for all difference, which is the organizing principle behind identity and meaning--manifest themselves, write themselves, in texts. These superb translations do full justice to Cixous's prose, to its songlike flow and allusive brilliance.

Book Description
WE ARE ON THE WRONG TRACK Seventy percent of Americans (and counting) think so. The real wage of a US worker today is less than it was 40 years ago-but there are four times as many multimillionaires. As inequality grows, the politics become more poisonous. Every year, more and more Americans go on shooting sprees, killing strangers and passers-by-and now, increasingly, representatives of the state. Troubling trends of this kind are endlessly discussed by public intellectuals and social scientists. But mostly, they talk about only a small slice of the overall problem. After all, how on earth can yet another murderous rampage have anything to do with polarization in Congress? And is there really a connection between too many multimillionaires and government gridlock? Historical analysis shows that long spells of equitable prosperity and internal peace are succeeded by protracted periods of inequity, increasing misery, and political instability. These crisis periods-"Ages of Discord"-have recurred in societies throughout history. Modern Americans may be disconcerted to learn that the US right now has much in common with the Antebellum 1850s and, more surprisingly, with ancien regime France on the eve of the French Revolution. Can it really be true that there is nothing new about our troubled time, and that similar ages arise periodically for similar underlying reasons? Ages of Discord marshals Structural-Demograpic Theory and detailed historical data to show that this is, indeed, the case. The book takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride through American history, from the Era of Good Feelings of the 1820s to our first Age of Discord, which culminated in the American Civil War, to post-WW2 prosperity and, finally, to our present, second Age of Discord."

Book Description
This book is a diary of writings from October 2019 to November 2020. The months before the pandemic started were a blur. Jennifer had got out of a long toxic relationship, and had to start her life from zero. A month later, the most important person in her life passed away in an accident. At the time, she found herself not only emotionally alone, but physically as well, in total confinement triggered by the coronavirus lockdown in a small village in Portugal. Due to these events, her mental health worsened, and so she started writing again—a poetry diary that accompanied her healing journey. A year later, she decided to edit, design and self-publish her first book. All in all, this book is composed with self-discovery, freedom, and love in all forms inspired by a year marked by losses and, consequently, big wins. The book contains month chapters and all text is ordered by date. Single pages with larger text mostly consist of thoughts and phrases, which are accompanied by a short contextual description of the moment they were conceived in. The main language is English but inside, you will also find original text in Portuguese, French and Spanish. All content includes the original text language, followed by its translation to English.
