Cooking Real Meals in a Hotel Room
Author: Laura Sommers

Book Description
Recipes to Cook in a Hotel Room Going on vacation can be an exciting and fun experience. But after living for a week or more in a hotel room, your waistline and your wallet will feel the pain. This was true for me after a dream vacation to Disney World. Eating out can be expensive! And after doing so for a length of time for every meal and you may be begging for something simple or home cooked. This can be true whether your trip is for business or for pleasure. The problem is, many hotels, motels or hostels don't have kitchens so they lack the basic cooking appliances that one needs to cook in their room. Disney World in Orlando is especially guilty of this. But there are other pre-packaged destinations and spas that are guilty of the same. Many places don't even give you a continental breakfast. So, I looked around the hotel room and figured out that there are three items standard in every hotel room around the world that can be used as make-shift cooking appliances. These are the coffee maker, the clothes iron and the hair dryer. Every hotel also has a mini-fridge so some of the items here will need refrigeration. Using these appliances and only these appliances, I have created a cookbook full of mouth-watering recipes to satisfy your craving for a home-cooked meal. Every recipe is as simple as possible so the instant variety is used when available. These recipes are also great for the college student to make in their dorm room. The only thing is that college students usually have a microwave or a toaster to work with but hotel guests often do not. Take care when making these recipes so that the food, or the room, does not burn. Also, please clean the appliances thoroughly after using them to cook so the next hotel guest does not get butter on their clothes that they try to iron or cinnamon in their coffee that they try to brew. Enjoy! Recipes Include Coffee Pot Ramen Noodles Coffee Pot Peanut Satay Coffee Pot Cheesy Tuna and Noodles Coffee Pot Mac and Cheese Coffee Pot Hot Dogs Coffee Pot Oatmeal Coffee Pot Pesto Chicken Coffee Pot Chocolate Fondue Steamed Coffee Pot Broccoli and Cauliflower Coffee Pot Hot Chocolate Coffee Pot Hard Boiled Eggs Coffee Pot Egg Scramble Coffee pot Egg Salad Coffee Maker Sausage Coffee Pot Rice Coffee Pot Lemon Pepper Chicken Coffee Pot Candied Pecans Hotel Green Beans with Toasted Almonds Coffee Maker Hobo Soup Coffee Maker Grits Coffee Maker Lentils Coffee Maker Spicy Meatballs Coffee Maker Salmon and Veggies Coffee Pot Butter Potatoes Coffee Pot Pesto Potatoes Clothes Iron Quesadilla Clothes Iron Grilled Cheese Clothes Iron Cheese and Ham Panini Clothes Iron Peanut Butter and Jelly Clothes Iron French Toast with Cream Cheese Icing Leftover Chicken Coffee Pot Soup Hotel Pizza English Muffins Hotel Room Tuna Melt Hotel Room Rueben

Hotel Chocolat: A New Way of Cooking with Chocolate
Author: Hotel Chocolat
Publisher: Hachette UK
ISBN: 1472224558
Category : Cooking
Languages : en
Pages : 471
Book Description
Chocolate is one of our most popular ingredients - both to eat and to cook with. But how many of us know how truly versatile it is? Hotel Chocolat, the UK's leading chocolatier, has pioneered 'cocoa cuisine': a new way of cooking with chocolate because, athough we know chocolate as a sweet ingredient, cocoa was originally used in savoury recipes. In fact, cocoa is a 'super-ingredient' with many layers of flavour and plenty of goodness too, and and this book showcases its many flavours and nuances with over 100 innovative chocolate recipes, both sweet and savoury. Hotel Chocolat has created energy-boosting recipes for breakfast, savoury recipes that enhance meat and fish dishes as well as give texture and depth to salads and snacks. And of course, not forgetting the hedonistic qualities that we love so much - with seductive bakes and puddings for all tastes. Find out too how to use the whole bean, from the shell to the nibs, cocoa powder to bar. And how to roast your own beans and even create a bar of your own. Uniquely, each recipe has a Cocoa Factor to indicate the depth of flavour as well as the cocoa percentage and region that will best suit the dish. Angus Thirlwell, Hotel Chocolat's visionary founder, will also take you through the story of chocolate from pod to plate. Welcome to cocoa cuisine!

I Sailed with Magellan
Author: Stuart Dybek
Publisher: Macmillan + ORM
ISBN: 1429931442
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 324
Book Description
Major new fiction from an acclaimed master From the prizewinning writer Stuart Dybek comes a superb new work: a novel-in-stories, eleven masterful tales told by a single voice with remarkable narrative power. In I Sailed With Magellan, Dybek finds characters of irrepressible vitality amidst the stark urban landscapes of Chicago's south side; there, the daily experiences of the neighborhood are transformed in the lush imaginative adventures of his hero, the restless Perry Katzek. There is remarkable music in each of Dybek's intertwined episodes, the rhythm of street life captured in all its emotional depth and unexpected humor: a man takes his young nephew to a string of taverns where the boy sings for his uncle's bourbon; a small-time thug is distracted from making a hit by the mysterious reappearance of several ex-girlfriends; two unemployed youths hatch a scheme to finance their road trip to Mexico by selling orchids stolen from the rich side of town; a young couple's amorous beach adventure is interrupted when an unexpected visitor washes ashore. As these poignant, often funny chapters unfold, Perry grapples toward the exotic possibilities the world offers him, glimpsing them even beneath the at times brutal surface of the inner-city. Throughout I Sailed With Magellan, fans of Dybek will find the captivating storytelling, the sharp, spare prose, the brilliant dramatization of resilient, inventive humanity that they have come to expect from him.
