Book Description
There can be no better way of getting to know Ireland than by visiting its racecourses: from the glamour of Leopardstown and the class of The Curragh to the majestic mountains around Killarney; from the warm welcome at Gowran Park and Clonmel to the summer holidaymakers' meetings and 'industry' days in the winter months. At any one of these venues, you might catch a glimpse of a future Cheltenham Gold Cup champion or Derby winner in action. Horses for Courses guides readers through a typical year in Irish racing and highlights the individuality of each venue. All have their own special qualities and atmosphere but share two common traits: a warm welcome and good sport. And that is what the author believes Irish racing is all about. The country's courses enjoy a huge level of support from the local population. It might be raining and some of the races may be 'ordinary' but the stands will always be crowded. That is because racing is part of Irish culture and the nation's way of life: with 27 courses, it has proportionately far more venues than Great Britain. Meticulously researched and passionately written, Horses for Courses is the definitive guide to Ireland's racecourses and is essential reading for horse-racing enthusiasts everywhere.

Book Description
This book evaluates the status quo of integrity management within sports that involve horses worldwide. Sports governing bodies and international sports federations are very powerful organisations within their sphere and the governance of these sports has created a hegemony which does not necessarily serve the interests of those engaged in sport, rather those who ‘rule’ sport. This book investigates the question of whether cheating is discouraged and fair play rewarded, both to an adequate degree.

Book Description
Country Cartoonist Bryn Parry has galloped from the shooting field into the equestrian world with his latest book, Horses for Courses. This wonderful collection of detailed cartoons looks at riding from Bryn's unique point of view. Dressage horses flutter their eyelashes as they pirouette in ballet shoes; foxes dig pits to ambush the Huntsman and jockeys are flung through the air as they pull the ripcord to their parachutes. The book is punctuated with twenty 'Horse Types' written by Giles Catchpole which are both wicked and brilliantly observed and everyone will recognise someone they know. This book is dedicated to the great Norman Thelwell.

Book Description
I started writing this book many years ago, and it has just been gathering dust, as I did not know the process involved in getting a book published. However, I went on a holiday to Malaysia, and I was telling a lady friend I had just met that I had enough information about horses to write three books. The first one is for beginners. Without my knowledge, she contacted a book publisher and started the ball rolling. For myself, learning about horses was all hands-on working and learning over many years. However, these days, new riders are learning from TAFE courses, riding schools, pony clubs, books, and the internet. In my day, this was not the case. I left home at the age of fourteen to start learning about horses, as from a very early age, I knew I wanted to be a jockey. My love for horses has never faded.

Book Description
From the author of the #1 bestseller The Man Who Listens to Horses, a book for all of us seeking to strengthen our human relationships "Monty Roberts will make you marvel."—The New York Times Book Review In The Man Who Listens to Horses, Monty Roberts revealed the depth of communication possible between human and horse. Touching the hearts of more than four million readers worldwide, that memoir—which spent more than a year at the top of The New York Times bestseller list—described his discovery of the "language" of horses and the dramatic effectiveness of removing violence from their training. Now, the world's most famous horse gentler demonstrates how his revolutionary Join-Up technique can be used not just for horses, but as a model for how to strengthen human relationships. With vivid, often deeply moving anecdotes, Roberts shows how the lessons learned from the thousands of horses he has known can provide effective guidelines for improving the quality of our communication with one another—from learning to "read" each other effectively, to creative fear-free environments, and, most importantly, teaching belief in the power of gentleness and trust.
