Book Description
In order to study multi-dimensional unstable detonation waves, a high order numerical scheme suitable for calculating the detailed transverse wave structures of multidimensional detonation waves was developed. The numerical algorithm uses a multi-domain approach so different numerical techniques can be applied for different components of detonation waves. The detonation waves are assumed to undergo an irreversible, unimolecular reaction A yields B. Several cases of unstable two dimensional detonation waves are simulated and detailed transverse wave interactions are documented. The numerical results show the importance of resolving the detonation front without excessive numerical viscosity in order to obtain the correct cellular patterns. Cai, Wei Unspecified Center NAS1-19480; NSF ASC-91-13895; RTOP 505-90-52-01...

Domain Decomposition Methods in Scientific and Engineering Computing
Author: David E. Keyes
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 0821851713
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 578
Book Description
This book contains proceedings from the Seventh International Conference on Domain Decomposition Methods, held at Pennsylvania State University in October 1993. The term ``domain decomposition'' has for nearly a decade been associated with the partly iterative, partly direct algorithms explored in the proceedings of this conference. Noteworthy trends in the current volume include progress in dealing with so-called ``bad parameters'' in elliptic partial differential equation problems, as well as developments in partial differential equations outside of the elliptically-dominated framework. Also described here are convergence and complexity results for novel discretizations, which bring with them new challenges in the derivation of appropriate operators for coarsened spaces. Implementations and architectural considerations are discussed, as well as partitioning tools and environments. In addition, the book describes a wide array of applications, from semiconductor device simulation to structural mechanics to aerodynamics. Presenting many of the latest results in the field, this book offers readers an up-to-date guide to the many facets of the theory and practice of domain decomposition.

Numerical Fluid Dynamics
Author: Dia Zeidan
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811696659
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 323
Book Description
This book contains select invited chapters on the latest research in numerical fluid dynamics and applications. The book aims at discussing the state-of-the-art developments and improvements in numerical fluid dynamics. All the chapters are presented for approximating and simulating how these methods and computations interact with different topics such as shock waves, non-equilibrium single and two-phase flows, elastic human-airway, and global climate. In addition to the fundamental research involving novel types of mathematical sciences, the book presents theoretical and numerical developments in fluid dynamics. The contributions by well-established global experts in fluid dynamics have brought different features of numerical fluid dynamics in a single book. The book serves as a useful resource for high-impact advances involving computational fluid dynamics, including recent developments in mathematical modelling, numerical methods such as finite volume, finite difference and finite element, symbolic computations, and open numerical programs such as OpenFOAM software. The book addresses interdisciplinary topics in industrial mathematics that lie at the forefront of research into new types of mathematical sciences, including theory and applications. This book will be beneficial to industrial and academic researchers, as well as graduate students, working in the fields of natural and engineering sciences. The book will provide the reader highly successful materials and necessary research in the field of fluid dynamics.
