Book Description
Speed + Accuracy = High IQ Test ScoresOne key success factor in any IQ test (that hardly ever gets talked about) is speed. Those who score the highest on standardized tests of intelligence are able to simultaneously do well on both the accuracy and the speed metrics. This book prepares you for both. It has a large number of reasonably simple puzzles, that are designed to be attempted in slowly narrowing windows of time, so that you can build up your speed without being too worried about accuracy.Graded Difficulty LevelsThere is also a challenge section in this book; the entire second part is devoted to puzzles that are a little harder than those that you encountered initially, but that are in the same format, so that you do not have to completely rewire your brain. In this challenge section, it might be a good idea for you to start slow, and initially only look at your accuracy (the percentage of each set of 10 problems that you solve correctly). Once your percentage consistently hires around the 80% or 90% mark, you can start measuring the time you take to get to your high accuracy solutions, and try to crunch that time down in each set of drills. The book is packed with thousands of practice puzzles and riddles, so you do not have to worry about running out of exercise material for your mind! There are three main types of IQ tests that this book will train you for. Some of them are pattern based; some are code-breaking based; some are number based; some are purely tests of verbal skills and intelligence: -- Four Fours: This puzzle format brings together a very large number of sub-formats that you might encounter on a standardized test of intelligence. Basic arithmetic skills, order of arithmetic operations, lateral thinking, use of multiple degrees of freedom, speed of solution: if you can score above 80% in this section, you are either a genius already, or are well on your way there. This section is also great as a source of puzzles you can forward on social media, to help keep your friends and family as mentally sharp as you!-- Cryptography: Code-breaking is an essential part of any mystery novel nowadays, and is equally important as the basis of the logic which underpins all secure financial transactions in the modern world. If you've always been fascinated with the shadowy world of the spy novel or espionage movie, here's your chance to get a little insight into just how it's done, as you practice code-breaking a simple rotational code, within a limited time.-- 3 4 5 6: This puzzle format with the intriguing name might seem like it's a number puzzle, but it is actually a pure test of vocabulary, verbal skills, and the ability to see familiar words in new ways, using your intelligence and raw brain power.Once you finish solving the problems in this book, you will be able to see the increase in your problem solving ability, and your brain would have experienced a thorough workout.Best of luck!

Book Description
A top behavioral geneticist makes the case that DNA inherited from our parents at the moment of conception can predict our psychological strengths and weaknesses. In Blueprint, behavioral geneticist Robert Plomin describes how the DNA revolution has made DNA personal by giving us the power to predict our psychological strengths and weaknesses from birth. A century of genetic research shows that DNA differences inherited from our parents are the consistent lifelong sources of our psychological individuality—the blueprint that makes us who we are. Plomin reports that genetics explains more about the psychological differences among people than all other factors combined. Nature, not nurture, is what makes us who we are. Plomin explores the implications of these findings, drawing some provocative conclusions—among them that parenting styles don't really affect children's outcomes once genetics is taken into effect. This book offers readers a unique insider's view of the exciting synergies that came from combining genetics and psychology. The paperback edition has a new afterword by the author.

Book Description
Extreme intelligence is strongly correlated with the highest of human achievement, but also, paradoxically, with higher relationship conflict, career difficulty, mental illness, and high-IQ crime. Increased intelligence does not necessarily increase success; it should be considered as a minority special need that requires nurturing. This book explores the social development and predicaments of those who possess extreme intelligence, and the consequent personal and professional implications for them. It uniquely integrates insights and knowledge from the research fields of intelligence, giftedness, genius, and expertise with those from depth psychology, emphasising the importance of finding ways to talk effectively about extreme intelligence, and how it can better be supported and embraced. The author supports her arguments throughout, reviewing the academic literature alongside representations of genius in history, fiction, and the media, and draws on her own first-hand research interviews and consulting work with multinational high-IQ adults. This book is essential reading for anyone supporting or working with the highly gifted, as well as those researching or interested by the field of intelligence.

Book Description
There is little in the public domain about this élite international high-IQ society, MENSA, which boasts a membership tested to have an IQ among the highest two per cent of the population. This book was written by an insider who, as a member of MENSA, contributed extensively to this high-IQ society over a span of almost thirty years. MENSA was originally conceived of as a third pillar intended to complement the Royal Society and the British Academy. When it was founded in Oxford during 1946 its original goal was to gather six hundred of the most intelligent people in Britain, as scientifically measured through an IQ test, who the government and its agencies could contact for advice on matters of government. It had two purposes: first, to conduct research in psychology and social science and, secondly, to provide contact between intelligent people everywhere in the world. The intention was for MENSA to conduct three strands of research: - To test intelligence tests, and identify correlations with intelligence. - Mensans as the subjects of research. - The Mensan as an instrument of research, i.e. where they themselves chose areas of interest to research and write reports on them. This book reveals some of the research conducted on or by Mensans over the intervening seventy years. Under its first president, Sir Cyril Burt, MENSA systematically conducted research on thousands of its members from 1946 until the death of the esteemed British psychologist in 1971. Burt’s research was challenged after his death, but it is debatable whether his detractors were fully aware of his MENSA research. MENSA was conducting big data research long before it became fashionable during the 21st century with the advent of powerful computers, and much of this research was made available to government departments at the time.
