Book Description
In the early 1990's Dr Daniel Penoel1 referred to Helichrysum italicum as the "Super Arnica of Aromatherapy". One would think with such high praise that it would be in every single aromatherapy text book, but no. It was Dr Kurt Schnaubelt who pointed out that although it was not found in an aromatherapy text book before the 1980's, the oil had been taken to ever aromatherapist's heart and was now generally accepted as one of our most healing oils. Other therapists described it as being the very best essential oil for healing scar tissue, but only if you used the oil distilled from plants sourced from Corsica. All this puzzled me. I wanted to find out more. I could not have bargained for the strange journey the plant, lost in history took me on. Come with me and: Discover the Helichrysum genus which has no less than 600 chemtypes. Thirty of these grow in South Africa and have become at the core of African medicine. Five of these have been found to be able to prevent the multiplication of HIV and Herpes simplex cells. Meet the ancient Greek heroes who danced in celebration of their sacred goddess and how Helichrysum decorated her temples. Climb down inside a Roman Necropolis and see how this "Sun -Gold" plant was used to say farewell to the dead. Navigate the minefield of essential oil chemistry and understand which bottle of oil to use for each different condition. In particular: Become intimately knowledgeable in an oil which is unsurpassed for treating: Physical and emotional trauma Insidious infection on a dangerous scale Scar tissue, (new and old) Bruising and hematoma PTSD Addiction Skin disease Skin care Stretch marks Liver Disease Cholesterol And, if that is not enough for you.... Book Description
Explores science’s new biological understanding of essential oils for improved immunity and treatment of degenerative diseases • Explains how essential oils convey the complex natural healing powers of plants, offering scientifically proven advantages over synthetic drugs • Offers revolutionary essential oil treatments to ameliorate the side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as for hepatitis, osteoporosis, liver detoxification, and the prevention of UV damage and melanoma • Presents simple recipes and protocols for strengthening the immune system; for treatment of common ailments, such as colds, flu, herpes, and candida; and for pain management Exploring science’s new biological understanding of essential oils and their advantages over synthetic drugs, renowned aromatherapist Kurt Schnaubelt reveals how the effectiveness of essential oil treatments stems from our common biochemical and cellular heritage with plants. He explains how essential oils preserve a plant’s complex natural life-supporting and immune-building qualities, developed through millions of years of interaction with animals and humans. Reviewing recent research in molecular, cellular, and evolutionary biology, he shows how the multilayered activity of plant essences helps maintain the integrity of our genetic code--the reason why pathogens cannot develop resistance toward essential oils as they do with antibiotics and antivirals--making essential oils a more effective and sustainable form of treatment for a variety of health problems. Laying to rest old arguments over essential oils’ alleged toxicity and whether they can be ingested or used undiluted, Schnaubelt presents simple recipes and protocols for treating and preventing common ailments, such as colds, flu, herpes, and candida, as well as for pain management. Offering new essential oil treatment opportunities for hepatitis, osteoporosis, liver detoxification, and the prevention of UV damage and melanoma, he shows how essential oils can also ameliorate the debilitating side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as how even home use of essential oils for relaxation or skin care can help build one’s immunity and overall well-being.

Book Description
The Eleusinian Mysteries were the most prestigious initiation of the ancient world. The ritual’s secrets were protected by death vows and have been speculated about for more than 4,000 years. The nine-day festival was run by a group of women called Melissae, or “bees”: married women, second only in rank to the Priestess of Athena Polias, who presided over Athens. They amassed incredible wealth, fame, and political status. Temple accounts from the period reveal that it was the priestesses’ money that paid for Greece's glorious architecture. Fees were earned for sacrifices and granting access to divinity. In return, the priestess made Greece a magnificent place to live. Oracles, diviners, soul midwives and creatrixes of innumerable festivals, these women ensured that the city-state kept favour with the goddess. They achieved that by emulating the ways of the world’s most successful matriarchal community, a bee colony. Herbal textbooks speak of a relationship between these women and the Lemon Balm herb (Melissa officinalis). Journey into the past and into the enchanting dreamscape of the hive with aromatherapist Elizabeth Ashley. A delightful odyssey for anyone interested in herbal wisdom, ancient Greek history, female empowerment, and humankind’s greatest allies, the bees.

Book Description
• The first book devoted exclusively to aromatic hydrosols--gentle, water-based plant extracts that expand the healing, cosmetic, and culinary applications of aromatherapy. • The newest development in the field of aromatherapy. • The homeopathic form of aromatic treatment that is the perfect complement to other forms of vibrational medicine. • A comprehensive reference with more than 100 recipes and formulas for using hydrosols as well as sources of supply. • With an introduction by Kurt Schnaubelt, author of Advanced Aromatherapy and Medical Aromatherapy. Hydrosols is one of the most anticipated books in the world of holistic health because it introduces a revolutionary new use of essential oils in aromatic treatment. Hydrosols, or hydrolates, are the pure, water-based solutions created when essential oils are steam distilled. Through this process, a potent, yet subtle form of medicine is created, one that is able to be ingested as well as applied directly to the skin, unlike most pure essential oils. In fact, hydrosols are considered the homeopathic version of aromatherapy, and as such are ideal for use with children, animals, and those with fragile immune systems. Suzanne Catty details the specifics of 67 hydrosols, provides formulas to treat more than 50 health concerns, and offers 40 delicious recipes in which hydrosols can be used. Her section on pets will help owners deal with urinary tract and digestive problems as well as grooming and odor issues. She also shows how hydrosols can be used with other forms of vibrational medicine and with feng shui, geomancy, and dowsing.

Book Description
This unique book is a collaborative effort between researchers at Rutgers University and colleagues from numerous institutions in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It will be the first book to document more than 200 of the most important medicinal plants of Central Asia, many whose medicinal uses and activities are being described in English for the first time. The majority of the plants described grow wild in Central Asia with some being endemic, while other species have been introduced to Central Asia but are commonly used in regional plant based medicine. The book contains four introductory chapters. The first and second chapters cover the geography, climate and vegetation of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, respectively. The third chapter provides a brief history of medicinal plant use and science in Central Asia and the fourth chapter contains general information about phytochemistry. The fifth chapter comprises the bulk of the book and covers 208 medicinal plant species. Nearly all species have one or more high quality, color photographs. Three useful appendices have been included. The first is a glossary of botanical and ecological terms, the second is a glossary of chemistry terms and the third is a glossary of medical terms. During the preparation of this manuscript we found there to be a deficiency in quality reference resources for the translation of many of the technical terms associated with the different branches of science covered in this book. In order to make our job easier we compiled glossaries over the course of preparing the manuscript and have included them feeling that they will be an extremely valuable resource for readers.
